Changes in Children and Youth Position

Wednesday afternoon our director of Children's Formation and Youth, Eleanor Smolen, told me that she had accepted the position of director of Family and Children's Ministries at the Church of the Good Shepherd here in Augusta beginning August 1st. Given the short notice we will be bringing together a group of parishioners interested in building our programs for children and youth. There is no doubt we have within our parish the talent, commitment and energy to bring about a truly exceptional program. If you are interested in being a part of this important meeting please let me know. There is no talent too small or time too limited to help Saint Paul's offer the very best to our Children and Youth

I look forward to hearing from you.

Manna Pantry is a ministry that provides food to 130 families and individuals on even-numbered months throughout the year. Friday volunteers help unload the truck,
arrange tables, assemble boxes, open and sort items, and box food for persons who will need special assistance the next day.
Saturday volunteers will greet and check in guests, then fill their boxes as they move them along the tables cafeteria-style. Some volunteers are needed to assist persons by carrying their loaded boxes to their cars. Parishioners of all ages are encouraged to participate in this ministry.

EfM returns to Saint Paul's:  Information Meetings
Sunday, August 2, 10:00 AM, Tyler Hall
Sunday, August 9, 12:15 PM, Tyler Hall

God calls every baptized person to ministry. Our church takes God's call seriously, which is why The School of Theology at Sewanee developed the Education for Ministry (EfM) formation program. EfM offers you the breadth and depth of our Christian tradition and brings it into direct conversation with your personal experience of the world through study, worship, and theological reflection.

An EfM "group" includes six twelve members who gather weekly with a group guide for approximately three hours, seven months of the year for four successive years. EfM is a significant program AND it is no less wonderful, formative, and fun!

Click on these links to explore the new study guide--Unit 1--and peruse the Reading Schedule. The cost is approximately $350 per participant per year, which includes all books, accompanying study-guide materials, and guidance from a trained group mentor.

I invite you to pray and discern whether it is time for you to begin EfM. Although I will host information sessions in Tyler Hall on August 2nd at 10 AM and August 9th at 12:15 AM, do not hesitate to contact me at  jjenkins@saintpauls.org or call the office; I am at ext. #205.
