From the Rector
Pounding the Pastor

Not for a poor sermon,
but as an outward sign of our welcome.

Our new assistant, John Jenkins, his wife, Bess, and children, John Turner and Ellie, are settling into their new home in Augusta and will begin working and worshiping at Saint Paul's in July. As a way of welcoming them to Augusta and to Saint Paul's we would like to give them a "pounding."

Giving a pounding is an old-fashioned way to help someone by stocking their pantry with non-perishables, foods, or cleaning supplies. A custom dating back to Quaker founding days: the custom was established to welcome a new pastor and his family into the congregation. The idea was to give the family a pound of staples to fill their pantry.

So as not to overwhelm the Jenkins as they settle in we can bring a gift of welcome to the church office. Please attach to your gift a note of welcome with your name. We will see that these gifts of welcome are delivered to Jenkins.

Suggestions: staples such as flour, sugar, spices, coffee, condiments, canned goods; gifts to stock a bar; cleaning supplies; paper products, gift certificates for local restaurants.

As many of us know moving is not easy. Let's join together to show our hearty welcome and care for our new assistant rector.
From the Assistant Rector

These past two years have been amazing! If you had asked me two years ago if I was planning on moving out of Georgia, I would have thought you were crazy! God works in mysterious ways. I am blessed to have you all in my life and y'all understand that God doesn't always work in the way we expect. But God is always present! I can't thank you all enough for the amazing celebration and generous gifts.  Your thoughts and prayers have been felt. Although I am excited to see what God has in store for me, I am also filled with sorrow in having to leave such a wonderful parish family. Please know that you all will always be in my thoughts and prayers. I know that God has great things in store for Saint Paul's. I am sorry I will not be here to witness them in person. With technology nowadays though, I will never be too far away. I will be checking in on you!

Many have asked if I know to what parish I will be going. As of right now I do not know but there are possibilities. As soon as I know for sure and I am able to announce it, I will make sure it gets to Saint Paul's.

Please stay in touch. You can reach me on Facebook at Rev'd Kelsey Hutto, email: Kelsey.hutto@rocketmail.com and physical address: 422 N 13th Ave, Beach Grove IN 46107.

Continuing BEing the Gospel in the world, showing the love of Christ, just as you have done to me!

The Senior Warden's Report
Fellow Parishioners:

I am pleased to report that the Mary-Kathleen Blanchard Outreach Endowment Fund has been established as part of the Saint Paul's Endowment Trust.  The establishment of this fund was approved by the Vestry and was made possible by a bequest from MK's estate and an additional donation from the Outreach Committee's restricted account.

The new fund will be managed and governed as part of the Saint Paul's Endowment and distributions will be directed to the outreach/services initiatives of Saint Paul's Church. Distributions will only come from the returns generated by the fund in order to preserve the corpus into perpetuity and create a permanent tribute to MK's memory.

Contributions to this new endowment can be made by check to Saint Paul's Church and designated for the Mary-Kathleen Blanchard Outreach Endowment Fund.  Other assets may be contributed as well, to grow this important new fund for outreach.

Please let me hear from you if you have any questions.

Blessings,

Monty
