Evensong

Evensong is the ancient service of vespers and is sung daily in most cathedrals throughout the world. Saint Paul's Church's version of the service is identical to those sung in these cathedrals, with much of the 50 minute service sung without accompaniment.

The choir will premier Philip Stopford's "Belfast Evening Canticles." Mr. Stopford composed this music for St. Anne's Cathedral, Belfast, Ireland, and the performance by the Augusta choir will be one of the first in the United States.  Also included in the service will be music of Richard Ayleward and Edgar Bainton.

I give of myself to Saint Paul's Because

Early one Easter Sunday morning, my new, young, beautiful wife and I were returning from Sunrise Services on the Riverwalk levee to our car. We had to walk past a beautiful church called Saint Paul's when the chimes from the bell tower began to ring a lovely hymn in the early morning mist. I was reminded of the time when Jesus told Peter that he would build his church on faith and the gates of hell would not prevail against it. The demons of fire, flood and discord have beat against this church and it has prevailed against all these forces. This realization made me determined to make Saint Paul's my faith based home because I believe that my own faith can prevail against all the forces brought against me with the love and support of the church membership as we strive to keep the faith of Jesus Christ.
