Return to Fall Schedule

We will be returning to our "Fall" schedule a bit early this year.  Beginning Sunday, August 17 our Sunday morning schedule will be as follows:

             8:00 - Holy Eucharist

10:00 - Christian Formation for children and adults

           11:00 - Holy Eucharist

5:30 - Celtic Evening Prayer and Communion

This shift to mid-August is being made because of the realities of the world in which we live.  In years past summer was considered that time between Memorial Day and Labor Day.  School schedules and church schedules followed suit.  Now all of our school districts will be back in session by the 18th of August.  We believe it is best for our programs and schedule to reflect this new reality.

The choirs of Saint Paul's will not be singing until the Sunday after Labor Day.  Beginning that Sunday, September 7 our Sunday morning schedule shifts slightly with the addition of practice time for both the Canterbury Choir and Saint Paul's Choir.  The schedule will be as follows:

             8:00 - Holy Eucharist

             9:30 - Canterbury Choir Rehearsal

10:00 - Christian Formation for all ages

           10:00 - Saint Paul's Choir Rehearsal

           11:00 - Holy Eucharist

5:30 - Celtic Evening Prayer and Communion

On September 7th following the 11:00 service there will be a kick-off party and potluck. Formally known as Discover Saint Paul's this celebration will be a chance to showcase all that Saint Paul's has to offer. Bring a dish to share, enjoy time in fellowship, and look at all the ministries Saint Paul's has.

Last Week at Saint Paul's
Outreach volunteers served ice cream and cookies at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home to the veterans as they listened to a guitarist play hits from the Vietnam era. The volunteers brought smiles to the veterans' faces as they conversed with them and provided a special fellowship from our Outreach ministry.

Outreach visits the GA War Veterans Nursing Home several times a year.  If you are interested in serving in this ministry.  Please contact Jack Hayman.

Welcome Elizabeth "Ellie" Ann Schultz
Last week we welcomed Ellie Schultz, daughter of Melissa and Greg Schultz.  Melissa is the director of the Saint Nicholas Choir and teaches Kindermusik at Saint Paul's in the fall and spring.

I give of myself to Saint Paul's Because ...
In the weeks and months to come your Stewardship Committee is moving toward a program of year-round stewardship. Don't worry, we won't be talking about money nonstop, but we will be lifting up and giving thanks for the stewardship of our time, talents and treasures.

You will have noticed that in the Prayers of the People we are praying for those groups and individuals at Saint Paul's who offer of themselves to the work and mission of the parish. We would like to now reach out to you. Stewardship is not simply the work of a small committee trying to raise money for the work of the parish. Stewardship is the work and responsibility of all who call Saint Paul's their church home.

In your Sunday bulletin, online and on our mobile app, you will find a short questionnaire. There is one simple question: "I/We give of ourselves, our time talent and treasure to Saint Paul's because.....". Answers to this question will help all of us understand better the many and varied ways we are connected to one another and to the life and ministry of Jesus Christ through this wonderful parish.

Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughtful response.

Looking Ahead
Kanuga

This past year a small but good group of parishioners gathered at Kanuga for an enjoyable weekend in the mountains of North Carolina.

As we plan Christian Formation and other parish activities we find that our weekend dates come in the midst of this busy season.  So for that reason we will not be having our parish weekend at Kanuga this year.  It is our hope that we can find a date later in the fall or spring for the coming year.
