From the Rector

Reports from around the world show a mounting death toll in Gaza, and no end in sight.  Humanitarian aid is not getting in and those suffering in Gaza have to rely on their own resources to aid the wounded and feed their children.

While many governments and the Christian Patriarchs in Jerusalem have called for calm, negotiation and respect, the way forward is far from clear. Latest word is that a ground attack is still a possibility.

How much more can the civilian population endure? They face polluted water, extremely limited power supply, shortages of everything from medical supplies to building materials.

And through it all, Al Ahli Hospital and its heroic staff treat those in need with compassion and skill.

The American Friends of the Diocese of Jerusalem can get funds to the Hospital. They can purchase fuel, food, and whatever medical supplies are available. It's possible to do something to address the need and do it now. Pray, stay current and support those suffering in a desperate situation.

If you would like to make a gift make your check payable to Saint Paul's Church, for the Diocese of Jerusalem.

I give of myself to Saint Paul's Because ...
In the weeks and months to come your Stewardship Committee is moving toward a program of year-round stewardship. Don't worry, we won't be talking about money nonstop, but we will be lifting up and giving thanks for the stewardship of our time, talents and treasures.

You will have noticed that in the Prayers of the People we are praying for those groups and individuals at Saint Paul's who offer of themselves to the work and mission of the parish. We would like to now reach out to you. Stewardship is not simply the work of a small committee trying to raise money for the work of the parish. Stewardship is the work and responsibility of all who call Saint Paul's their church home.

In your Sunday bulletin, online and on our mobile app, you will find a short questionnaire. There is one simple question: "I/We give of ourselves, our time talent and treasure to Saint Paul's because.....". Answers to this question will help all of us understand better the many and varied ways we are connected to one another and to the life and ministry of Jesus Christ through this wonderful parish.

Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughtful response.

Looking Ahead
Children's Christian Formation Teachers For Fall Schedule

We're looking for a few more teachers for Children's Christian Formation to complete the Fall rotation. Teaching a class does not require an every Sunday commitment. A schedule is being completed to allow teachers to share the responsibility for the semester. Please prayerfully consider how you can support our Children's Christian Formation program. If you are interested in teaching Sunday School, please contact Michelle Hawkins or The Rev. Kelsey Hutto .

Kanuga

This past year a small but good group of parishioners gathered at Kanuga for an enjoyable weekend in the mountains of North Carolina.

As we plan Christian Formation and other parish activities we find that our weekend dates come in the midst of this busy season.  So for that reason we will not be having our parish weekend at Kanuga this year.  It is our hope that we can find a date later in the fall or spring for the coming year.
