Monty Osteen has been nominated by George Muir as his Senior Warden.
Ted Hussey, Russell Jordan, and Ken Smith will be concluding Vestry terms on Easter Monday. |
Clay Coleman is a life-long Episcopalian who was "born and raised" into the steeped traditions of the Episcopal Church right here at St. Paul's. Matriculating through the roles of Junior Choir member, Acolyte and, during high school, Senior Choir member, his Christian beliefs were instilled in him as a natural part of his upbringing. Church was not optional in those days. It was as much a part of life and learning as "reading, writing and 'rithmatic." Clay would like nothing better than to see Americans' priorities return to such norms.
Clay left Augusta to pursue his collegiate endeavors and then, after attaining undergraduate and graduate degrees in Business Administration, married and the inimitable Ivey McMillan and climbed corporate ladders in various industries before returning to Augusta in 1998 to join forces with his brother, John, in the field of Residential Renovation, Repair and Restoration. Like many during their "industrious years," Clay's Spiritual progress only inched forward during this stretch.
The move "home" was hopefully to include the start of a family for he and Ivey, his lovely wife of twenty four years. However, four years of "trying" had produced no offspring. Not surprisingly, after succumbing to invitations, suggestions, requests and the like (not unlike this Vestry nomination), upon joining the Saint Paul's Choir in 2001 and returning to a regimented life of Faith, The Clay and Ivey Show soon introduced a new character to the cast. They haven't looked back since Miss Beth arrived on the scene.
And so it is that, after finding his place in the Choir and becoming an integral member of the Building and Grounds committee, membership on the Vestry seems the "next right thing" in Clay's journey with St. Paul's. He sees it as much a measure of giving back as moving forward personally. Clay hopes to join forces with other Vestry members in returning St. Paul's Church to a destination for Christians who wish to grow, in every sense, in the manifold ways that only inclusion in the Episcopal Church can foster.

I graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed a Radiology Residency at the University of Virginia, School of Medicine, specializing in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. I moved to Augusta in 1968 and practiced this sub-specialty for forty years. I am now inventing and developing medical devices to be utilized in the treatment of vascular disease.
I am married to Lou Teeslink and I have a daughter and son-in law, Tara and Tim Conway and a grandson, Baillie, who is nineteen years old.
After many years as a Methodist, I was attracted to the Episcopal Church because of the weekly Eucharist service, the liturgy and its openness and freedom of thought and expression. I became a member of Saint Paul's Church in 2000 because of its history, beauty, music and location. But most of all, I was attracted because of the people who make up Saint Paul's community.
I have been on the Outreach Committee since becoming a member. I am currently serving on the Board of DCCM and volunteered previously at DCCM for 2 years. I volunteer at Manna Pantry, Master's Table Soup Kitchen and Angel Tree. I also work on all special projects as needed. I am currently a member of the Worship Committee, serving as chairman of the usher teams and am an usher. I served on the Vestry from 2009-2011. I was co-chair of the stewardship committee in 2012.
In the community, I am a board member of the Augusta History Museum and serve as Chairman of the Development Committee. I am a member of Kiwanis.
Things I feel that are important to Saint Paul's future are: maintaining financial stability, expanding our Outreach and Evangelism programs, increasing our membership, especially in the younger age group, and improving our weekly attendance at all church services and functions, and continuing to promote the Celtic service.
