Pacesetter of the week:
Charlie Jacobson '16
In this new weekly feature, we will be profiling a Princeton student and their special commitment to civic engagement and service. Charlie Jacobson '16 participates in a unique assortment of civic engagement activities. As freshman representative on the Honor Committee, Charlie serves as an SVC Project Coordinator for the Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts and as Volunteer Firefighter with the local Princeton Fire Department. Charlie's commitment to firefighting is longstanding, having joined his hometown department, Englewood Cliffs Fire Department, at 16, the earliest age he could do so. It was through volunteering with ECFD while at home over fall break that he responded to emergencies stemming from Hurricane Sandy, and realized the need of the Princeton campus and its neighboring communities and started organizing efforts immediately upon his return. Charlie encourages students interested in participating in Sandy relief efforts to email pu.sandyrelief@gmail.com.
You can read Charlie's full story later this week on the Pace Center website where he and other Pacesetters will be showcased.

The Guardianship Monitoring Program was recently created to help ensure that the state's elderly and disabled neighbors who rely on legal guardians are treated honestly and fairly. With a new statewide database in place to track all guardianships moving forward, volunteer researchers are needed to review and examine thousands of annual reports in detail to make sure that guardians are honestly performing their duties. Researchers will extract information from court files, and be trained to read and analyze basic reports and financial information, flagging questionable annual reports and entering relevant information in a web-based computer program. If you have 8 to 10 hours per month to volunteer, please email njguardianship.mailbox@judiciary.state.nj.us or call 855-406-1262. |
