Unique Perspectives
Fire Safe Wool
This is a rerun from a little over a year ago. Hey! The author has writers block. It happens! But since Jack Frost continues to nip noses well beyond his allotted time frame, it certainly seems appropriate to run this again. Anyway, as this winter hopefully winds down, there are still a lot of creosote infused logs shooting embers across the family room and candles spreading their warm glow because the light bulbs can't spread anything without any %@#$ power. 'Tis still the season of elevated fire risk and as such it's a good time to remind your customers of the exceptionally unsurpassed fire-safe properties of wool.
  • Wool carpets have exceptionally low levels of flammability and represent the logical choice for creating safe, healthy indoor environments
  • Wool is naturally flame-resistant and its performance exceeds that of all other commonly used textile fibers.
  • Wool is difficult to ignite due to its higher ignition temperature.
  • Wool has a low heat of combustion and a low rate of heat release and one year later we still haven't a clue what that means.  We're assuming it's a good thing.
  • If wool comes into contact with another burning surface, it won't melt or stick and is self-extinguishing once the initial ignition source is removed.
  • Wool forms an insulating char when it burns and emits less smoke and toxic gasses than are formed during combustion of synthetic fibers.
Heirloom Quality?
We often say we make rugs of heirloom quality. That's nice!! But just what exactly does that mean? It means multi-generational rugs of exceptional quality and durability that you can pass on to your progeny whether they want them or not. Here is an example. We'd like to hastily point out that we didn't make this.

It's the Pazyryk Persian rug and it is the oldest known Oriental rug in existence. It was found during an archeological excavation in the Pazyryk Valley of Siberia and is very impressive with a high knot count and very intricate patterns. More importantly, it has been Radio-carbon dated at 2400 years. That's right its 2400 YEARS OLD. Yikes! That's back in the time when there were Pharaohs walking around. So when we talk about heirloom quality, that's pretty serious stuff. We'd like to suggest you order a few of our rugs and see what happens. Your results may vary. Get back with us in 2400 years and tell us how we did.
Product Review - Ambassador
In reviewing our inventory we found something that's not entirely unique. We have a lot of wool loops in natural heathers and Berbers. Forty-one of them to be exact. I guess it would be safe to say, we like 'em. And why not? Wool has been the fiber of choice in upscale carpets and rugs for a couple thousand years. Who are we to argue with that? So when one of them in our midst really climbs the sales charts, its worthy of note.
Ambassador

Our product Ambassador has done just that. Introduced a little over a year ago it ended 2015 second (behind our perennial top seller Softer Than Sisal) in total dollar sales... A remarkable accomplishment in just fifteen months. We always do well with large-scale loops and Ambassador is that: A big, bold, and rugged texture that is created by the precise placement of alternating very large and not-so-very-large loops. Additionally the five beautiful color-ways are created by the blending of colors that naturally occur in wool. No dyes are used and it's finished with a jute backing. So not only is it great for those seeking an environmentally friendly solution, it's great for everyone.

Finally, on the heels of the Ambassador introduction was
Envoy
Envoy. It's offered in the same colors, same construction, same texture, but subtle stripes this time that make for some great mix and match opportunities. So if you haven't had the opportunity to sell Ambassador or Envoy, let's pick up the pace and move a few rolls. It's a winner. Operators are standing by!!
