New Eagle Scout Stephen Artner (center) and fellow scouts from Troop 150 collected 302 pounds of food for the ACCA Food Pantry. Stephen and his friends performed a benefit concert at The Virginian  retirement community in June. The cost of admission for non-residents and scouts: 10 cans of food. Following the concert, the Scouts delivered and shelved the donations. Stephen will be a junior at Paul VI Catholic High School this fall. Troop 150 is sponsored by the Annandale United Methodist Church. Thank you, Stephen, for your leadership.

The pantry made 68 deliveries assisting 205 people in June. An inventory of the food pantry was completed with assistance from the Friendship Baptist Church of Memphis, Tennessee. The church sent a bus with volunteers to visit Washington, D.C., and on June 30, they helped out at the pantry and the CDC. We greatly appreciate their help!

Family Emergency Assistance
Fairfax County averages 390 calls per day from families seeking help. Callers who live in the Annandale and Bailey's Crossroads areas are often referred to ACCA.

Among those ACCA served in June was a single mother with two young children who needed help paying for a prescription. ACCA also paid the first month's rent for a single mother of six children who was moving to a new residence.

In all, ACCA paid more than $21,000 in rental payments, nearly $2,500 in utility payments, and $470 in medical costs. ACCA served thirty-seven households with more than 100 family members in June. On behalf of all who were served, thank you for your support.
Meals on Wheels
In June, the Annandale Meals on Wheels served 29 clients with a total of 1,012 meals. Thank you, all!

In June, volunteers completed 60 pickups and deliveries. In addition to their regular Saturday operations, a weekday crew delivered bookcases to Sleepy Hollow Elementary School to house books donated to the school.
