An Inside Guide to Special Services in CCISD
In the Clear Creek Independent School District we believe education is a joint partnership between parents and our schools. With this in mind, the school district has developed a guide for parents and guardians of students with special needs. The handbook is designed to provide families with an inside look at the types of services, available resources, and the state and federal laws governing special education.

Preparing for an ARD Meeting
The Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) meeting is an opportunity to discuss your child's progress and to work collaboratively with district and campus staff on an individualized education plan for your child. Here are some ideas, suggestions and a checklist to help you and your child prepare for your next ARD meeting.
Before the ARD Meeting:
* In the event you are unable to attend during school hours, you can arrange to participate in the ARD meeting by phone. * Ask the school to invite any representatives of outside agencies that you would like in attendance (i.e. DARS or MHMR). * Ask the school for information you do not have such as: - Latest evaluation and any new testing the school has done - Progress notes - Student Code of Conduct
* Review the draft goals and objectives sent home prior to the ARD meeting and bring any suggestions to the meeting.
* Create a list of your child's talents and strengths and any concerns you may have. * Decide who you will bring to the ARD meeting and notify the school's special education department. * Decide if you want to meet with the teacher(s), diagnosticians, or related service providers before the ARD meeting to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

Cameras in Classrooms
A new state law permits a parent, staff member or board of trustee to request the placement of cameras in certain education classrooms. If the request meets the requirements under Texas Education Code § 29.002 and 19 Texas Administrative Code § 103.1301, the school district will provide video equipment, including video cameras with audio recording. Video recordings are confidential and may only be released for viewing to certain individuals as defined by statute.
