Imaginations Soar During CCISD Tradition

Clear Creek ISD's Education Village was alive with music, artistic inspiration and laughter at the 21st annual Imagination Celebration.

This special day, sponsored by the CCISD Department of Visual and Performing Arts and designed for elementary-aged children and their families, gave students the chance to create their own works of art at a dozen Creation Stations. Students left the event with a treasure trove of painted tiles, clay sculptures, paper flowers and decorated rocks. Budding musicians were able to practice at the Instrument Petting Zoo and most in attendance were turned into living works of art thanks to the popular face painting station provided by district high school students. Space Center Rotary Celebrates Golden Anniversary with a Donation to Clear Lake City Elementary

Students at Clear Lake City Elementary have been enjoying their Dell computer tablets as a result of Clear Creek Independent School District's 1:1 Initiative. And now, thanks to a generous donation from Space Center Rotary, the students' virtual learning environment will be enhanced.

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, Space Center Rotary has committed to fifty acts of kindness for their community and they chose Clear Lake City Elementary as the recipient of one of these acts. When Rotarians met with the school staff to discuss the best use for their $1000 donation, the answer was clear. "I knew that when our fourth and fifth graders piloted the Latitudes [Dell computer tablets] last year, teachers found a need for external keyboards, mice and headphones to allow our students to use their tablets much more productively," said Kari Euker, Clear Lake City Elementary counselor. CCISD Schools Work Together to Share Inspirational Story

Students from across Clear Creek Independent School District recently gathered around classroom computers, laptops and their Dell tablet computers to watch a live stream of a very special author visit at Robinson Elementary.

When the staff at Robinson Elementary learned about the book "Chocolate Bar" and its child author Dylan Siegel, they knew that their students could greatly benefit from hearing his story. Dylan wrote "Chocolate Bar" when he was only six years old to raise money toward a cure for his best friend Jonah's rare liver condition, Glycogen Storage Disease (GSD). All proceeds from the book go toward GSD research and to date the book has raised more than $800,000.

"Chocolate Bar" struck a chord with those at Robinson Elementary. Not only because the book's message shows children that even small actions can make a big difference, but because their own third grade student, Chase Mouser, is also living with GSD. The wheels were in motion to bring Dylan and Jonah to campus for a special author presentation for their students. Read More

Clear Lake HS Seniors Believe in Community Service

The mission statement of Clear Lake High School states that students will be contributing members of society. On Wednesday, October 15, some Lake Seniors, Class of 2015, showed they are living that belief.  The Clear Lake High School Food Bank Club and Amy McDonald, Senior Principal, sponsored a Senior Class field trip to the Houston Food Bank. Three hundred seniors participated in the event, along with 15 staff members working enthusiastically for more than two hours sorting, scanning, packing, and hauling food. This community service opportunity allowed Clear Lake High School students to create 5160 meals for those in need.

This service learning activity was extended at the October 16, 2014 football game through the Two Teams One Goal: "Falcons and Knights Fans Bring Cans" food drive. Clear Lake and Clear Falls High Schools combined to collect more than 1000 cans and $500, all donated to the Houston Food Bank.
