Anyone can submit a photo for CCISD: Snapshots! Just remember the following:
  • CCISD policy and procedures require all students to have the proper CCISD photo release to appear in CCISD publications  
  • Not all photos submitted can or will be used in CCISD: Snapshots. The Office of Communications has final photo approval
  • Photos must be submitted in .jpg format

News from Your PK-12 Community

 

PK-12 Communities broaden and strengthen connections within CCISD. Each PK-12 Community is comprised of both elementary and secondary campuses, based on feeder patterns and the larger communities that are served by these schools. These communities will communicate and collaborate with each other regarding school activities and programs, shared events and possible partnerships. By utilizing coordinated calendars, an online presence and open lines of communication the PK-12 Communities will help build lasting relationships among campuses and recognize the strength found in the diversity of each community they serve.

These ARE the Droids You're Looking For

Clear Springs High School invited their PK-12 Community to celebrate "Star Wars Reads Day." Jedis, wookiees and stormtroopers alike gathered for this internationally recognized event that brings together fans, authors and readers of all ages to celebrate reading and Star Wars. The day included free crafts, photos with Star Wars costumed members of the 501st Legion and a book fair, as well as Yoda soda and Wookiee cookies provided by Clear Springs culinary students.

PK-12 Communities are SpecTRACKular!

The PK-12 Community is alive and well on the track of Ward Elementary! The Clear Brook High School cross country running team recently visited the campus to run join the Ward Elementary running club and give students tips on how to be successful runners.

Bauerschlag Elementary Shows Its Charger Pride

In celebration of their homecoming, Clear Springs High School invited their PK-12 Community to participate in their annual Homecoming Parade. The students of Bauerschlag Elementary proudly supported the Chargers while marching along with their high school counterparts.

Imaginations Soar at the Education Village

CCISD's Education Village was alive with music, artistic inspiration and laughter at the 21st annual Imagination Celebration. This special day, sponsored by the Department of Visual and Performing Arts and designed for elementary-aged children and their families, gave students the chance to create their own works of art at a dozen Creation Stations, including the Instrument Petting Zoo. Most in attendance were turned into living works of art thanks to the popular face painting station provided by CCISD high school students. Masterpieces from every elementary school were on display and the day culminated with a performance by the 5th Grade Honor Choir comprised of students from every CCISD elementary campus.

CCISD High Schools Put On an ExtravaBANDza

The marching bands of all five CCISD high schools wowed the crowd at this year's ExtravaBANDza. Each band performed their halftime show. Seventh and eighth grade band students got involved as well to close the performance.

DECA Helps Build the Leaders of Tomorrow

DECA student leaders from Clear Brook, Clear Creek, Clear Falls, Clear Lake and Clear Springs high schools recently gathered at the University of Houston Conrad Hilton College for an intensive leadership conference. The teams worked on competitive event trainings, team building and leadership skills. The CCISD students enjoyed collaborating with one another on new ideas for their respective clubs.

The Clear Creek High School Volleyball Team is Ready for Its Close Up

The Clear Creek High School volleyball team has been getting a lot of attention lately. The team is ranked #5 in the state of Texas and was featured on KUBE-TV Channel 51 as its "Team of the Week." Congratulations!

The Mighty Knights are Up for the Challenge

Cadets from the Mighty Knights JROTC program of Clear Falls High School participated in the 2014 University of Houston Fitness Challenge. Seventy five teams from around Houston were invited to compete in a myriad of fitness challenges and to talk with representatives from the university about options for applying to college. The Mighty Knights finished in 5th place overall and left with a better understanding of what it takes to get to the college level.

Students' Pet Project Proves Beneficial for Local Animal Shelter

The students at League City Intermediate are looking out for their furry friends. Students raised $890 and collected more than 400 pet items for Bay Area Pet Adoptions, a shelter, pet rescue and adoption center caring for the animals in our local community.

Creek Pinks Out

In visible support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Clear Creek High School partnered with M.D. Anderson in the Bay Area to raise awareness, both on campus and under the "Thursday night lights," about the most common cancer among women. The Wildcats ran through a special banner which had been signed throughout the day by students and staff, and then as fans entered the stadium for the Creek vs. Brazoswood match, they were invited to make their mark on the Strike Through Cancer Wall. CCISD Board Member Ann Hammond spoke to the crowd before kickoff, alongside M.D. Anderson physicians, to share her story as a two-time breast cancer survivor.

Wolverines Keep Fundraiser Under "Wraps"

Clear Brook High School Sports Medicine Program recently held its 7th annual "Wrapping for a Cure." The program, benefiting cancer research for the M. D. Anderson Hospital Foundation, took place during the Clear Brook High School vs. Dickinson High School varsity football game. Clear Brook and Dickinson student trainers joined together to collect donations from fans and wrapped their wrists in pink before the game and during halftime. Their joint effort raised $1025 for cancer research.

Former Student Gets His Hands Dirty

Armand Bayou Elementary has a new butterfly garden thanks to former student Steven Mroski. Steven, now a student at Clear Lake High School, designed, built and planted the garden as his Eagle Scout project. The garden not only adds natural beauty to the campus, but will serve as a learning experience for Armand Bayou students.

Falcons BANK on Service Learning Project

The Clear Lake High School Food Bank Club and Senior Principal Amy McDonald sponsored a senior class field trip to the Houston Food Bank. Nearly 300 students and 15 staff members worked enthusiastically for more than two hours sorting, scanning, packing and hauling food. Their efforts resulted in 5160 meals created for the City of Houston. This service learning activity was extended during the Clear Lake vs. Clear Falls football game with the "Two Teams One Goal: Falcons and Knights Fans Bring Cans" food drive benefitting the Houston Food Bank.

We are the Champions!

The Westbrook Intermediate volleyball team is the district tournament champion. The 7A Lady Timberwolves brought home the gold in the recent 7th Grade District Volleyball Tournament. Congratulations!

The Chargers Continue on Their Path of Success

It was another successful competition for the Clear Springs High School speech and debate team. All Chargers did well in the tournament with the team of Sean Golden and Anmol Retiwala placing first in Public Forum Debate and Sean Golden winning first place Overall Public Forum Speaker. Way to go!
