Leveraging social media:
A guide for journalists
Join the Cleveland SPJ Chapter in the Harbor Room of the Market Garden Brewery - in the heart of one of Cleveland's most vibrant entertainment districts - for an event focusing on how journalists can and should leverage social media to widen the audience for their content.

Learn about the latest social media tools, how they can be used and what the future may hold. The evening will begin with a presentation by digital trainer/journalist Mike Scott, followed by a panel discussion led by four journalists with a mix of social media experience.

Michael Norman
As entertainment managing producer for the Northeast Ohio Media Group, Michael oversees entertainment coverage for Cleveland.com and is keenly aware of how social media can make stories go viral on the web. Michael previously was reporter and a features editor at The Plain Dealer.

Mike Scott
A digital trainer and writer, Mike received training through a Kiplinger Fellowship for Social Media at Ohio State University, is a regular trainer for Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources conferences nationally, and is a former assistant metro editor/online for The Plain Dealer.

Kaye Spector
An editor at EcoWatch, an environmental news service headquartered in Cleveland, Kaye has made the transition from traditional print media (a reporter and editor at several papers including The Plain Dealer) to the digital world, working as a regional editor for Patch.com before her current post. Kaye is a member of the SPJ Cleveland board.

Amanda Harnocz
Amanda is a community manager at MedCity News. She previously was a social-media editor at AOL's Patch.com, a web editor for the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram and a reporter for Record Publishing.
