Director's Message
We at the Jewish New Teacher Project (JNTP) are coming off a high from the successful Insiders Briefing for current and prospective funders and partners that took place on January 15. You can read all about the Briefing, as well as view a condensed highlights reel of the event, below. What is clear from the Briefing is that JNTP's impact on individual teachers, students and schools is long-lasting and that our relationship with the award-winning New Teacher Center (NTC) benefits Jewish day schools tremendously.
In conjunction with the Insiders Briefing, we created a number of infographics that visually present JNTP's program and our impact. We are very pleased to share the first infographic with you, which shows our impact statistics since JNTP's launch in 2003. Click on the image below to view the document and read what some of our participants and their administrators have to say about JNTP!
As you can see, JNTP has made a significant difference to students, teachers and schools over the past decade! We look forward to your support and partnership, so that we will continue to have exponential impact in the decade to come.
Wishing you a chag kasher v'sameach, a happy and healthy Passover holiday.
Nina Bruder

JNTP Hosts A Well-Received Insiders Briefing
On Thursday, January 15, JNTP hosted an Insiders Briefing at the AVI CHAI Foundation's NYC headquarters. Over 40 people participated in person and via live stream, representing more than 20 current and prospective supporters who came from Federations, foundations, educational organizations and more. New Teacher Center Founder and CEO Ellen Moir flew in from Santa Cruz, CA to share her support and passion for JNTP and to expound on her mission that every teacher in the country deserves support at the beginning of his or her career!

AVI CHAI Foundation's Executive Director for North America, Yossi Prager, opens the Insiders Briefing by sharing that JNTP is one of the grantee projects of which AVI CHAI is most proud.
In addition to a warm introduction by AVI CHAI Foundation's Executive Director for North America, Yossi Prager, and a review of JNTP's 10-year impact study and new business plan by JNTP Director Nina Bruder, the program featured moving testimonials from two JNTP participants, Amy Martin and Rabbi Tavi Koslowe.
Amy Martin, a third grade teacher at the Solomon Schechter School of Manhattan, completed two years of being mentored as a new teacher. Now in her fourth year of teaching, Amy spoke eloquently about how her detail-oriented, dilemma-solving work with mentor Shira Jacobson
allowed her to gain control of her classroom and create a truly effective learning environment for her students -- and how that work continues to influence the way she teaches today. Amy said, "What I loved about the work with [my mentor] is that it was supportive and collaborative; it was not a dynamic of power or being told what to do or judgement."
RAMAZ Lower School Principal Rabbi Tavi Koslowe reflected on his long-term relationship with JNTP and his mentor, JNTP Senior Program Director Fayge Safran. Tavi and Fayge first worked together 12 years ago, when Tavi was mentored through JNTP in his second year of teaching, and Fayge remained an informal mentor to Tavi throughout his subsequent career. When he accepted the position at RAMAZ last year, Tavi again turned to JNTP and Fayge for formal support, this time as part of our one-on-one principal coaching program. Tavi opened his remarks by saying, "Without a doubt, I would not be in the position I am today if not for the ongoing relationship I've had with JNTP in general and Fayge Safran in particular." Tavi shared how he has integrated JNTP's approach to tackling issues in the classroom -- using the Collaborative Assessment Log tool that asks participants to note what's working, what remains a challenge, what are the next steps, and what support is needed -- into his own supervisory practices as an administrator.
We thank all of the speakers and those who joined us live and via live stream for their partnership and support in bringing our work to over 100 schools in North America since our inception, through which we have trained roughly 1000 educators in Jewish day schools to provide a better education for tens of thousands of students.

Praise Never Gets Old!
As we put together our presentation for the Insiders Briefing, we had the opportunity to review some old video footage of testimonials by administrators, mentors and new teachers from among our earliest partner schools.
Enjoy watching highlights from the very first JNTP video, made about five years ago! The messages are still relevant and resonate.

"It is very exciting for us to see what a change JNTP has made in the field since 2003. AVI CHAI remains deeply committed to this effort. We also recognize that as time goes on, there is a need for new partners to help stabilize the organization as it goes from start-up to something that is ongoing."
