Nine-year-old Asks for Donations For Pets Instead of Birthday Presents
Nine-year-old Lindsey is a huge animal lover, so when it came time for her birthday this year she decided she wanted to do something special. Instead of the usual birthday presents, Lindsey asked that her friends donate items to our annual Pet Food Drive! Her friends responded very generously and Lindsey was able to donate lots and lots of food and other items.

When asked why she made this sacrifice, Lindsey said, "I thought about the poor animals in need and because I already have toys I decided to donate to the animals." Click Here to read more about Lindsey!
5,000 Pounds of Pet Food Donated - Thank You!

We are sending out a big thank you to everyone who brought in cat or dog food, blankets, toys or treats during our Holiday Pet Food Drive! Thank you from everyone at AHNA! The AHNA Annual Pet Food Drive was a huge success again this year with over 5000 pounds of cat and dog food donated along with lots of treats, toys and blankets. We were all so touched by the generosity of the community. One amazing young girl even asked her friends to donate pet food to our drive instead of giving her birthday presents!

Beware: Dangers May Be Lurking In & Around Your House
By: Dr. Susan Wootten

Here at Animal Hospital of North Asheville, we see many heartbreaking cases where beloved pets have suffered illnesses, or even death, because the family of the pet was not aware that very common things that we eat or items that we have in the home could pose a threat to the pet. One vivid memory is the deep grief that a loving family suffered because they tossed a hot dog to their large breed dog as a treat, and the hot dog went down the trachea, leading to death by asphyxiation. Or imagine arriving home to find that your dog does not greet you at the door as he typically does.  There is trash strewn about in the kitchen - Click Here to read more.
Exciting News About Taste of Compassion

AHNA was thrilled with the huge success of the 11th Annual Taste of Compassion, and we were honored to be able to be the presenting sponsor for such a grand gala! Not only were we extremely happy that this event raised $90,000 for Asheville Humane Society to use to help needy animals in our community, many of us from Animal Hospital of North Asheville attended and had a truly wonderful time.
