AHNA December 2014 Newsletter
  2014 Holiday Hours

We will be observing the following holiday hours:

  • December 24th 7:30am - 12 noon
  • December 25th Closed
  • December 31st 7:30am - 5:00pm
  • January 1st Closed
In order to allow our staff members time with their families, we will be closing for outpatient care for Christmas and New Year's. Please note that we will close at noon on Christmas Eve and reopen at 7:30 AM, December 26th. We will also close at 5:00 PM New Year's Eve and reopen at 7:30 AM, January 2nd.

Although staff will be attending to the needs of cases in the hospital, we will not have continuous care during the times the hospital is closed for Christmas and New Year's, so any cases that need 24 hour care will be transferred to REACH.

  AHNA Favorite Things Video!
Warm laps and good naps and feeling much better,
Coming with buddies or dressed in a sweater,
Please? That was tasty! Our patients all sing,

These are a few of our favorite things!

View our annual Favorite Things Video put together by Dr. Plankenhorn and Dorothy Williams. Once you watch it, the video will be one of your favorite things! Click Here or on the photo above to watch the video.
How to Find a Lost Pet:
A Checklist
  • Search your property thoroughly. Look in places where it seems impossible that your pet would be. Look both outside and inside of your house. Cats especially can get into tiny spaces.
  • If you have recently moved, search your old neighborhood, house, and speak to neighbors.
  • Don't forget to look up. Cats climb trees.
  • Call to your pet especially at quiet times.

Please Donate Food for Needy Cats and Dogs!
Thank you to all of our generous clients who have donated to our pet food drive so far! Your donations mean there will be fewer hungry pets in Buncombe County in the coming year.

We will match the first 2,000 pounds of food donated, so bring those bags and cans in! Donations will be distributed to Asheville Humane Society (which now includes Animal Compassion Network), Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, and Meals on Wheels Pet Food Program. Click Here for more information on how you can help.
Saving the Life of Asheville Humane Society's Ella
Meet Luella!

It was an ordinary busy Wednesday afternoon in October when a phone call from the Asheville Humane Society introduced a miracle into the Animal Hospital of North Asheville family. The medical coordinator at AHS was sending a little dog named Ella to us because she was suddenly having a lot of trouble breathing. Ella had been at the AHS adoption center for about a week with no problems, but that day she went outside and came in gasping for air. Click Here to read more about Luella.

Gift Ideas for Your Pet: 2014

With the Holidays fast approaching and shopping season in full swing, we asked our staff members and local certified pet behavior trainers from the Pet Behavior Aid, Dog-Ed, Dog Door Canine Services, Sit, Stay, Bark and Play, and MindfulMutz for their top recommendations for holiday gifts.

Always Continuing to Learn at AHNA
These past few months have been busy with many of our veterinarians, certified veterinary technicians and support staff attending a variety of continuing education conferences and workshops. Along with the below, Drs. Duncan, Wootten, Plankenhorn and Golden all attended national veterinary conferences earlier in the year - Click Here to learn more!
AHNA Gives to Foster Children
Once again, the staff members of Animal Hospital of North Asheville have provided Christmas presents for several of Buncombe County's foster children. Everyone here at Animal Hospital of North Asheville really enjoys being able to make the holidays brighter for these deserving children!

Each year, Cathy, our Client Care Team Supervisor, contacts Buncombe County Foster Care Association and gets the names, ages, and sizes of each child - Click Here to read more.

By embracing new knowledge and state-of-the-art technology, our mission at AHNA is to provide the highest level of medical, dental and surgical care possible; to deliver it with integrity and compassion for our clients, but most importantly, to constantly see ourselves through the eyes of our voiceless patients who understand only that we are gentle and kind; to have as our first priority, relief of their pain and discomfort and to strive to minimize separation from the people they love.
