Help Us Raise Food for Needy Cats and Dogs!
Please help us as we once again hold our annual Holiday Pet Food Drive to help needy dogs and cats in our community! A great many dogs and cats will need food and warmth this winter, so please donate to help them! Animal Hospital of North Asheville will match the first 2,000 pounds of food donated, so bring those bags and cans in! Donations will be distributed to Asheville Humane Society (which now includes Animal Compassion Network), Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, and Meals on Wheels Pet Food Program. Drop any canned or dry pet food, blankets, pet toys and/or monetary donations off at Animal Hospital of North Asheville during normal business hours before January 1st. Click Here for more details on how you can help.

Thank You For Helping Us Bring Hope Home!
On October 31st, our beloved Client Care Team member Norma lost her dog Hope in the Biltmore Village area. Hope escaped out of Norma's car and was so startled by the noise and traffic that she bolted.
We placed Hope's picture and information on Facebook and our AHNA Facebook family sprung into action! Over 300 people shared Hope's picture, people called local restaurants and hotels to alert them to look for Hope, and many of you actually drove and walked around the area looking for Hope. Hope, however, is a very shy dog and was running away from everyone, even Norma.
Your efforts were not in vain! Hope was found on November 3rd - Click Here to read the rest of the happy story & to see photos of Norma & her furry family.

How Do I Medicate My Pet?
Just about every family gives medication to their pet at some point. Most dogs receive monthly oral heartworm preventive. Cats should receive monthly Revolution application for heartworm and parasite control. And despite all of our best efforts, many pets get sick or injured during their lives. While some pets take medications easily, and some medications like oral heartworm preventives are designed to be tasty and easy to give, a question we're asked all the time is "How am I going to get my pet to take this?" Click Here to read about the techniques that have worked for us.

What Is Happening In Your Cat's Mouth?
With all the advances of modern medicine over the past 30 years, many diseases that plagued a high percentage of cats are now much better controlled because of effective vaccinations, dewormers and safe flea control products. More cats are neutered, so cat bite abscesses and some serious transmissible diseases have greatly diminished. In addition, more cats are living exclusively indoors, have fenced yards, or are being kept inside at night. Despite all of these advances, one feline problem has seemingly worsened. Now we see lots of cats with horrible oral disease because something wonderful is happening...cats are living longer. Click Here to read more.

By embracing new knowledge and state-of-the-art technology, our mission
at AHNA is to provide the highest level of medical, dental and surgical
care possible; to deliver it with integrity and compassion for our
clients, but most importantly, to constantly see ourselves through the
eyes of our voiceless patients who understand only that we are gentle
and kind; to have as our first priority, relief of their pain and
discomfort and to strive to minimize separation from the people they
love.
