Gratitude and Blessings
As we look back on 2013, we are grateful for our blessings even as we acknowledge our losses. Losing Dr. Riggle after 33 years due to illness and Dr. Earley after 15 years due to his need to care for family in West Virginia has saddened all of us, but we are thankful that a great team of experienced veterinarians remains. Drs. Dave and Betsy Thompson, Dr. Plankenhorn, Dr. Duncan, Dr. Wootten, Dr. Golden and Dr. Kiss have all worked hard to make sure that each and every patient received the best of care all year long.
We are grateful for the changes that took place to allow us to continue to provide our high standard of care. To ensure that all of our patients could get appointments as needed and receive excellent care when Dr. Riggle left practice, our own Dr. Caroline Kiss moved from her dental surgery position into the exam room. Deadline Extended to Donate to Pet Food Drive
Our Annual Holiday Food Drive is off to a great start, but due to the short period of time between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, we are extending our deadline for donations until New Year's Eve! Thank you to all the generous clients who have donated so far! As you can see in the picture, food and treats have been coming in at a rapid pace. We are thrilled because this food means there will be fewer hungry pets in Buncombe County.
Last year we were excited to accumulate over 5 tons of food between the food brought in by the community and the food donated by Animal Hospital of North Asheville. This year we challenge the community to donate 5 tons of cat and dog food, and we will donate another ton!

Dog Park Petition Update!
Thank you to all of you who have signed the Friends of North Asheville Dog Park petition to show City Council the support that exists for a dog park in North Asheville! As we go to press with this newsletter, 863 people have already signed! It is critically important to build on the momentum we have to create a dog park, so please share this petition with your family, friends and networks to show the City Council the strength of support for a park. With your help, this petition can make a difference!

Gifts for Foster Children
Once again, the staff members of Animal Hospital of North Asheville have provided Christmas presents for several of Buncombe County's foster children. All of us here at Animal Hospital of North Asheville really enjoy being able to make the holidays brighter for these deserving children Each year, Cathy, our Client Care Team Supervisor, contacts Buncombe County Foster Care Association and gets the names, ages, and sizes of each child and a list of gifts that the children need or want. Cathy puts all the gift requests on cards and our staff members take the cards, buy gifts, and wrap them for the children - Click Here to read more about how you can help local children.

Testimonial: Our Whole Family Loves AHNAWould you like your pet to be featured on our website in the testimonial section? Just email your testimonial and a photo of your pet to: info@ahna.net - thank you!
We started coming to AHNA when we moved here in 2010 and have loved them from the start. They have been so understanding and patient with our two dogs, Bailey and Nala. We've used them in emergency situations as well as annual checkups. Recently, it was time for our Nala to leave us and all of the staff at AHNA made the experience as good as it could have been for our family. It was very clear how much they cared for us and our dogs. We also got a sweet, caring package after Nala was gone to show even more how much they care. I have sent friends of mine to AHNA and highly recommend them to anyone that asks for a vet. Our whole family loves AHNA and the staff and vets will always hold a special place in our hearts for everything they've done for us. -Kristen and Rick Loftis Click Here for more testimonials.

By embracing new knowledge and state-of-the-art technology, our mission
at AHNA is to provide the highest level of medical, dental and surgical
care possible; to deliver it with integrity and compassion for our
clients, but most importantly, to constantly see ourselves through the
eyes of our voiceless patients who understand only that we are gentle
and kind; to have as our first priority, relief of their pain and
discomfort and to strive to minimize separation from the people they
love.
