AHNA December 2012 Newsletter
Blessings of 2012

This is the time of year that we tend to count our blessings, and at Animal Hospital of North Asheville, we have so many to count this year! The most obvious thing that may come to your mind is our wonderful new state-of-the-art hospital renovation and addition that was completed in 2012. Yes, we are thrilled to be able to provide an open, comfortable, low stress environment for your pet, but there is one thing that is an even greater blessing: The amazing, thorough, caring, and careful AHNA staff.

We are blessed because the people who work beside us are some of the kindest, the gentlest and the most considerate people you will ever meet - Click Here to read about all that we are grateful for.

Happy Holidays! Our Fun (and Funny) Holiday Video
Click Here or on the photos

This year the AHNA staff had a blast putting together this holiday video for you. As you can see, we have a very creative and fun group of people working at our hospital! Enjoy the video - we hope it makes you smile :)
Holiday Pet Food Drive
Donate Now!

Our Annual Holiday Food Drive is off to a great start!  Thank you to all the generous clients who have donated so far!  As you can see in the picture, food, blankets, toys, and treats have been coming in at a rapid pace, and we are thrilled because this means there will be fewer hungry pets in Buncombe County. Last year we pledged to match up to 1000 pounds of donated food, and actually matched more than 1000 pounds. This year our pledge is to match 2000 pounds, and from the look of things, we will be donating at least another 2000 pounds! The donations will be distributed to Asheville Humane Society, Animal Compassion Network, Brother Wolf, and Meals on Wheels after the holidays.

Animal Hospital of North Asheville will be accepting donations through Christmas Eve, so please help fight hunger in homeless and needy pets by bringing your donation in to our front desk during our normal business hours of 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM each weekday, 8:00 AM to Noon on Saturday, or at 4:00 PM Saturday or Sunday.
S.T.E.P.S. - Have a Happy & Healthy Holiday Season!
The holiday season is upon us, and while this time of year brings many wonderful events, it can also be a tough time to maintain your commitment to a healthy lifestyle for yourselves and your pets. We all make excuses - everyone's busy, it's cold outside, it's dark in the evening, company is coming, and so on. In reality, this is a time when it is extra-important to make the time and effort to get outside and get some exercise with your pets! Click Here to read more!
Preventing Holiday Hazards
The smell of the feast is sure to have tails wagging, but busy crowds of family and friends and an abundance of food may present safety hazards for your pets. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and Animal Hospital of North Asheville offer the following tips to keep pets safe this holiday season.

The holiday feast is for people - not pets.  Table scraps may seem like a fun way to include a pet, but many foods are poisonous to pets, including onions, garlic, raisins and - Click Here for more helpful holiday information.
AHNA Staff Provide Christmas for Foster Children
Once again, the staff members of Animal Hospital of North Asheville are sponsoring several of Buncombe County's foster children by purchasing Christmas presents for them.

Each year, Cathy, our Client Care Team Supervisor, contacts Buncombe County Foster Care Association and gets the names, ages, and sizes of each child and a list of items that the children need or want. Cathy puts all the gift requests on cards and our staff members take the cards, buy gifts, and wrap them for the children. As you can see, this year there is quite a pile! Click Here to read about how you can help foster children.

By embracing new knowledge and state-of-the-art technology, our mission at AHNA is to provide the highest level of medical, dental and surgical care possible; to deliver it with integrity and compassion for our clients, but most importantly, to constantly see ourselves through the eyes of our voiceless patients who understand only that we are gentle and kind; to have as our first priority, relief of their pain and discomfort and to strive to minimize separation from the people they love.
