Board of Pharmacy Update

The Board of Pharmacy kicked off the public board meeting today in Sacramento which will continue through tomorrow, July 28th. Major discussions so far have taken place around the DEA's regulations on drug take-back, the new CURES 2.0 system and the Board's most recent sterile compounding regulations . The BOP states that all pharmacists should follow the DEA regulations regarding drug take-back until the Board develops their own guidelines or regulations. Virginia Herold, Executive Officer of the Board of Pharmacy stated that the new CURES 2.0 system is expected to be launched September 1st. Public comment was considered regarding the latest version of the sterile compounding regulations. Brian Warren from CPhA also expressed concern to the Board on behalf of the ACP sterile compounding committee regarding some of the Board's language. The agenda, meeting materials and access to the BOP meeting webcast can be viewed here
