K-State Economic Initiative Receives Federal Funding

 

Several rural counties in southeast Kansas have received a substantial federal grant. The grant titled, Project 17 will help community members build skills and expertise to sustain a high paying job. Project 17 is part of a national initiative to support rural partnerships and to encourage growth in rural communities.

ICDD to Hold Economic Forum, Debate Watch Parties

 

In order to promote civic participation, ICDD will hold three events in October open to the Manhattan, KS community. The upcoming Economic Forum is scheduled for Oct. 9 and the DebateWatch events are Oct. 3 and 22. The DebateWatch events will give participants the opportunity to discuss the Presidential Debates in a small group.

K-State Olathe Holds Accelerated Facilitation Training

  

"How to Deal With Conflict at Every Facilitation Stage," an accelerated facilitation workshop hosted by K-State's Institute for Civic Discourse and Democracy, was held August 1 and 2 at the Johnson County Library Systems in Olathe, KS. Professionals from across Kansas participated to learn about the decision-making process and various facilitation methods.

 Forum on National Debt Held at Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum 

A deliberation forum addressing the national debt was held at Eisenhower Library and Museum in Abilene, KS on August 9, 2012. "A Nation in Debt: How Can We Pay Our Bills?" was the topic of the forum. Forty-three participants, including three public officials, attended.
