Schemper's started caring certified chip keys in 2008 and we have come a long way since with the services we can provide. We carry a variety of Ford, Toyota, Mazda, GMC, Chrysler, Honda, Nissan, and Mitsubishi with more makes and models becoming available to us all the time.
Not many know what a Chip key is, so let me inform you. Chip keys have a transponder located inside the plastic "head" portion. The car has a receiver that asks for the identity of the key. The key sends a numerical signature back, and if the vehicle recognizes the right information it allows the car to start. Chip key technology makes your car less vulnerable to theft, no electronic signature, no start!
Information we need to duplicate a chip key is vehicle make, model and year.
Also important is having the vehicle present so that we can check and make sure the new key works. Some models of cars even require some in car programming.
Other items we carry for your perfect driving experience are Key Fobs ( the remote to open and close your door), replacement batteries for key fobs, and plastic covers to protect your key fob. If you currently do not have a key fob and our computer says that a key fob is available to your vehicle then we can program a key fob for your vehicle. If you already have one or more fobs and only one works, bring them in so we can program them alike and make them all work for you. It may be that all you need is a new battery and we carry replacement batteries to revive your fob.
Lastly, we have covers for your key fobs. These covers protect your fob from wear and breakage. If your key fob breaks away from your key chain, a key fob cover allows you to attach the fob to your key chain once again.
