Now that we are getting to the end of a very long winter.... Is your yard ready for Spring? Here is a list of a few tips to help make sure you are ready.
Now is the time to do any pruning or shaping of your trees and shrubs. Crape Myrtle bushes or trees, need to have seed heads removed each winter for better bloom. Prune plants that bloom in the spring like Azaleas and Lilacs after they are done blooming.
Remove Dead Plants
After a cold winter like we have experienced this year, some tender plants might not have made it. By removing the dead plants now you make more room for the surviving plants to grow and reward you with great color bloom.
- Clean Up the Lawn
Over the winter, leaves and twigs may have fallen and collected on your lawn. Now is the the time to remove the leaves and twigs from your lawn because they block out the sun that your lawn needs. Once the lawn is cleared off, give your lawn some fertilizer so it can grow strong, green and ready for spring.
- Work Smarter not Harder...
Heavy duty trash bags will allow you to put more leaves, twigs, and dead plants in the bag without having twigs poke through creating holes and tears. If your prefer loading directly into a garbage can, use a wheeled garbage can eliminating the need to carry a heavy garbage can around while you work. It may also help prevent you from straining your back.
Use of a pair of gloves will help keep the dirt out of your finger nails, but they can also help you work faster and more efficiently without the worry of twigs and thorns poking at your skin.
A few tips using the right tools will help your yard to be ready for spring and allow you to sit back and reap the rewards of a well groomed colorful yard. |
