Charger Golf Classic
Save the Date!

We'll be returning to the top notch Echo Falls Golf Course in Snohomish this summer for our annual Charger Golf Classic. This is a great event for teams as well as individuals, so maybe your office or company would like to join us for the day. We'll be teeing off on Thursday, June 23rd. Online registration will be linked here in the Lance later this spring.

Spring Connections

Last month I shared about how I love stories, and how sharing stories brings about connections. Getting together is an opportunity for sharing stories. This is the time of year where we have several events to bring people together.

Last week we welcomed our grandparents to campus, worshiped with them in chapel, shared lunch and visited over coffee and cake. In May, in conjunction with the Jog-a-thon, we'll host our first ever 5K run! This is open to the community so come run with us. And the annual Chargers Golf Classic is in June at the beautiful Echo Falls.

We've also heard about two reunions in the works - the class of '76 and the class of '06. If your class is planning a reunion let us know, we'd love to help!

We look forward to connecting with you this spring!

Charger 5K!

On Saturday, May 7, we are hosting the first-ever "Crazy Socks" Chargers 5K, beginning and ending at Matthews Beach. The junior high and high school students will be participating and collecting pledges to raise money for their class funds and extracurriculars. You can join in the fun by supporting a student or running in the 5K yourself! This event is open to the public and costs just $25 to register (includes a goodie bag!), so feel free to sign up with all your friends and family. Any runner can choose to join in the fundraising as well--it's as easy as sharing a link on Facebook.

Submitted by Kyle Rasor  - Class of 2009

I graduated from Washington State University in December of 2014 with a major in elementary education.  Prior to graduating, I did my student teaching at Rachel Carson Elementary, in the Lake Washington School district at the start of the 2014-2015 school year.  After student teaching I received my substitute teaching certification and went on to sub in the Lake Washington School District in various grades and schools for the remainder of that school year.

With substitute teaching I had flexibility in my schedule and had the opportunity to go on a mission trip in March of 2015 with a group from my church, including my dad and two of my brothers.  We went to Roatan, Honduras, where we built two houses for families there.

Around this time I also applied for a full time teaching position in the Lake Washington School District and had my first interview in June.  Within a few days I was offered a teaching position in the district for the 2015-2016 school year.  I was invited to interview at Alexander Graham Bell Elementary in Kirkland and a few days later was offered a second grade teaching position there for this 2015-2016 school year.  I currently have a class of 23 second grade students.  In the fall I was also offered and accepted a three year contract from my current school district.

On February 10, 2016, I proposed to my girlfriend of two years, Kathryn (she said yes!), who I met while at Washington State University.  Kathryn is finishing up her elementary education degree and will begin her student teaching this fall.  We will be getting married this July and plan to live in the Kirkland area.

Memorial Garden Plaques
In celebration of our 60th anniversary, a space was created for stories - past and present - a memorial garden.

Now we need stories!  You can tell your story on a plaque that will be attached to the faces of the benches.  Learn more here.

Featured Alumni Stories:
Each month we like to feature an Alumni in our newsletter.  This is a great way for alumni to re-connect. We would love to hear from you about where you are and what you are doing now.  Share your story with us.
