Fall Activity

We're in full swing as summer melts away to a crisp fall. We warmly welcomed 41 new students to campus in all grades, two new employees and one interim teacher. Our volleyball and soccer seasons are starting off strong. And every once in a while we spot an alum back on campus.

This fall we invite you to join us for two terrific events.

The first is the 2015 Presidential Gala on October 23. The elegant Inglewood Golf Club is the perfect setting for celebrating God's goodness to the school.

The second is our annual Homecoming celebration the week of December 14. Come out for basketball games and our annual Christmas Concert.

SCS continues to thrive because of the generous support of our alumni - whether it's financially at the gala, with cheers and song during homecoming or sharing your story with us in the Lance. We are grateful!

Thank you!

Senior Photo 1990
I graduated from Shoreline Christian (in my day it was Watson Groen Christian) in 1990.  I was one of just a few in our graduating class that had attended Watson Groen for 15 years!  My years of education at Shoreline Christian proved to be exceptional; however, I didn't recognize the quality of education until I stepped onto the campus of Dordt College and recognized that I had a deeper understanding of the academic materials than most of my peers.

I have many memories of my years at Shoreline Christian:  dreadfully crying not wanting to go to Kindergarten, collecting newspapers and loading them in a trailer (was this to pay for the new gym?), a new elementary building, "visiting" Mr. Vogel's office, the installing of the playfield, and many great teachers that have become friends as the years pass.

My wife and I now reside in Yakima, Washington where we are raising our 6 kids.  Since moving to Yakima God has called us to work with youth in a way we never imagined.  When we are not busy at our places of employment we are caring for the extra kids in our home as we are licensed foster parents for the State.    Since becoming licensed foster parents we have had over 60 kids in our home; ranging from an overnight visit to 18 months.  There is a great need for more foster parents!  If you feel called to consider foster parenting contact the Shoreline Christian School office and they can connect you to me.

Homecoming 2015
This year we will be hosting two fantastic homecoming events the week of December 14. Tuesday night, December 15 don your green and black to the Watson Groen Memorial Gym and cheer on the high school basketball teams as we face Concrete High School. Games at 4:30, 6:00, and 7:30.

Then join us December 17 at 7:00 pm in the First Christian Reformed Church of Seattle (the church across the parking lot from the school) for our annual Christmas Concert as we celebrate the season with music. Take part in the alumni tradition of singing of Peace, Peace then reminisce with friends and faculty at the alumni reception following the concert.

New Staff at Shoreline Christian School
Aimee & Andrea
Our new school year is off to a great start and we'd like to introduce you to two new members of the Shoreline Christian staff and faculty.

Aimee Ray joined our Preschool in August as the new Preschool Co-Director working alongside Barb Reinsma.  Andrea Grafmiller has taken over both the personal and academic counseling duties.  Read more about Aimee and Andrea>>

Memorial Garden Plaques
In celebration of our 60th anniversary, a space was created for stories - past and present - a memorial garden.

Now we need stories!  You can tell your story on a plaque that will be attached to the faces of the benches.  Learn more here.

Featured Alumni Stories:
Each month we like to feature an Alumni in our newsletter.  This is a great way for alumni to re-connect. We would love to hear from you about where you are and what you are doing now.  Share your story with us.
