Shining Lights
At the end of each school year, the Admin Team meets to discuss the school theme for the coming year. This year we decided on "Let Your Light Shine", based on Luke 11:33-36.
We were drawn to the images it conjured up in our minds - a lighthouse, stars, lamps, etc. We love the idea of our students being lights in the world, beacons of Christ's love. And it presents a question to wrestle with - What does it mean to be a light for Jesus?
Little did we know at the time what that theme would mean to our community over the summer. Two bright lights of the SCS community, Mins Reinsma and Nancy Kamerman Colón, were called home. Please read more about them below. So, we start the school year next week with sadness but also a sure hope in the Light of the World.

In Memory of Nancy Kamerman Colón
|
Nancy Beth Kamerman Colón went to be with the Lord on August 10, 2015. Nancy was born January 6, 1982, in Manhattan, Montana. She was the eighth child and youngest daughter of Delbert and Nellie Kamerman. As a child, she was quiet and happy growing up on the family dairy farm, and learned everything a farmer's daughter learns. She had the ability to make everyone laugh and turn the most mundane moments into joyful memories.
Nancy attended Manhattan Christian School. She received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. While in school, she spent time studying in Honduras and became fluent in Spanish. After her graduation in 2004, she received an offer to teach second grade from Shoreline Christian School in Shoreline, Washington, two weeks before classes started. She packed up everything and moved to Seattle, where she taught for 11 years. This past spring she watched her first class graduate high school. Read More>>

Featured Alumni: Brian Kaemingk
Submitted by Brian Kaemingk (Class of 2003)
After graduating from Shoreline Christian, I went to Calvin College to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. After that, I went to the University of Southern California where I got an MBA. Since then, I have worked in technology, finance, and strategy at National Security Agency in Washington D.C., The Boeing Company in Los Angeles and, in my current position, I am a Manager at the Seattle office of Ernst & Young, which is a global accounting and business advisory firm. In 2013 I moved back to Seattle where I have enjoyed being closer to family and pursuing hobbies like mountaineering and brewing. Once you have grown up in the Pacific Northwest, it's not easy to leave! The most important thing that Shoreline Christian taught me was work ethic, and I am grateful for the men and women who taught and mentored me there. I'd love to connect with you.
