Come See Us!
|
December 6, step off at 11am: Scottish Christmas Walk, Old Town Alexandria. This is a fun event that we attend every year. OK, it's chilly, so marching warms us up, but our Shelties come with their winter coats already on. We march with our friends in the Potomac Valley Shetland Sheepdog Club. As we march along, we always hear, "Here they come! The Shelteeeeez!" We love to celebrate our Shelties' heritage with many of the other Scottish dog breeds at the parade. (Westies everywhere!) Come and march with us, even i f you have a Sheltie wannabe. Or cheer us on from the sidelines as the parade goes by. Here's more information about the events of the weekend. Step off is at 11:00am. If you want to march with us, e-mail us for specific instructions about the meeting place and time. We'd love to have you join us. Wear your tartan!

Here's the link. Do you remember our handsome Cody, who came to us early in 2014 with a serious heart defect? Despite his prognosis of a shorter than average life expectancy, he found a wonderful forever home. He's now practicing for his Canine Good Citizen certification and hopes to become a therapy dog soon. | Cody at his CGC Exam |

Dog Treat of the Month
|
Homemade No-Bake Pumpkin and Oat Balls
These treats use only three (!) ingredients, so there's no excuse. Put on that apron! - ¾ cup pumpkin puree
- ¼ cup water
- 2½ cups oats
- additional oats as needed for rolling
Directions - - In a large bowl, combine the pumpkin puree and water. Stir well to combine.
- Add the 2½ cups of oats to the pumpkin mixture and stir well to fully mix the ingredients.
- Using your hands, roll the mixture into small spheres and set them aside.
- After you've rolled the mixture into spheres, spread the additional oats on a plate, and roll the spheres in these oats to create a "coating" on the outside.
- Refrigerate the finished treats for 24 hours before serving to firm the pumpkin puree.
Store in the refrigerator or freezer (better).
