Help Us Celebrate 15 Years with Our 2015 Calendar
| We're collecting great photos of rescued Shelties right now, and the deadline is June 30. Go through all those photo files you have and send us your best ones. Your little darling could be Mr. January or Miss July - or even the coveted cover photo. We're looking for themed photos, as well as the great portraits. Action photos are good, too. Remember - June 30 is the deadline to have your photos in. Here are the rules. This is one of our big moneymakers every year, and we have people waiting in line for it when it comes out. |

Lawn Chemicals
| If you have your lawn treated by a lawn care company - or if you do it yourself - check into the chemicals that are used. They could be very dangerous for your pets. It's great to have a lush green lawn, but at what price? Here are two interesting articles on this subject. |
News and Notes

Looking for one of our e-newsletter articles or links from past issues? You can find them in the e-Spin archives.
Here's the link. Did you know that the safest place to keep your dog's food is right in the bag it came in? That bag was designed to protect the food it contains. We're tempted to dump it into a plastic container, but the food can react with the plastic and may deteriorate. The best thing to do is keep the food in the bag and put the entire bag in the plastic bin. Dog food is expensive, and this will keep it fresher longer. Does your Sheltie (or other dog) get carsick? There are ways to help her or him. Dr. Kay (of Speaking for Spot fame) has some good tips for your dog. Here you go ... If you shop at Amazon.com, you can also help NVSR with every purchase by using Amazon Smile. Just enroll, designate NVSR as your charity of choice, and buy, buy, buy. It's not a whole lot for each purchase (0.5% of the purchase price), but with many folks using it, it adds up. Every little bit helps pay for our Shelties. There are other online ways to help, too. Use iGive or GoodSearch. We get many donations from folks who use these portals to their online purchasing sites. There's a new way to find lost pets - Facial Recognition Technology. A new app called PiP (Positive Identification of Pet) is available for a small fee. If your pet is lost, the app will notify local shelters and vet clinics. If someone finds your pet, the app will compare the found pet "statistics" with those stored for your pet. Here's more about that. Interested in getting into therapy work with your Sheltie? We had a good article about that wonderful activity in our December Sheltie Spin. Or, go right to the source of more information: Therapy Dog, Inc.
