The 2013 Picnic was a smashing success!
We had a wonderful picnic this year, with record crowds of humans (190 of them) and canines (140 of them), mostly Shelties, of course. We got our goodie bags and 2013 picnic bandanas, enjoyed lunch together, watched demos about grooming, therapy, massage, agility, had our photos taken at the PawPrints booth, bid on silent and live auction items, shopped at the Sheltie Shop, ate homemade goodies, petted the foster dogs, and marched proudly in the longer-than-ever adopter parade.
Waiting their turn for a photo
All together we brought in over $6,000 to help all our Shelties get healthy and find new homes. We also gave Karin Trice an award for "Above and Beyond" care of permanent foster, Cody. Cody enjoyed all the attention, too.
And most of all, we thank all our hard-working volunteers, not just for putting on this fabulous event, but also for all they do to find the perfect home for each of "our Shelties."There are lots more photos and videos on our website. Here's the adopter parade - turn up the volume! |

Keep Your Sheltie Safe at Hallowe'en
You've probably seen this funny photo many times, but we still love it. Be careful around Hallowe'en, though. Many Shelties just aren't into the costumes, funny looking people and strange noises, and the door opening and closing so often. Be aware that YOUR Sheltie may be frightened by all the strange action. Give him or her a comfortable, safe place to hide away. Here is more Hallowe'en advice.
