Holiday Shopping "for the Shelties" Headline | |
Here are some terrific ideas for your holiday gift-giving:
 The NVSR 2011 Calendar has 12 months of Shelties, Shelties, and more Shelties! Each month features at least three Shelties in seasonal photos. We still have some left, but they're going fast! $18 each plus $1.50 for shipping. If you want more than one, ask us to calculate the shipping for you - it will save you $$. To order, send an e-mail to shop@nvsr.org.
 Sheltie ornaments are still available. Check them out on eBay and get one or more to decorate your Sheltie's Christmas tree. There are lots of other Sheltie items on our eBay site. Order early - supplies are limited for some items.
When you do online shopping, please use iGive or GoodSearch as your portal to the shopping sites you use. If you sign up with either (or both) of these and designate Northern Virginia Sheltie Rescue, we'll get a portion of your purchase price - at no cost to you. The amount we receive varies from 1% to a whopping 20%, depending on the online store. And, check out Helping Udders and SitStay for your doggie gifts. You can register for NVSR directly on their sites. These small amounts add up fast, and they really help us cover expenses for our foster dogs.
And, here's something really special - holiday music to help the Shelties ...
 Jessica Frost-Ballas, one of our talented NVSR volunteers, is pleased to announce the upcoming release of her first CD. "Carols of the Season," features harp arrangements of traditional Christmas carols. A portion of all profits will be donated to NVSR to help benefit Shelties in need. CDs will be available in early December and can be purchased directly through her website at www.jessicafrost.com or by contacting her at jessicaafrost@gmail.com.
 You might also consider one or more copies of Speaking for Spot: Be the Advocate Your Dog Needs to Live a Happy, Healthy, Longer Life, by Nancy Kay, DVM. Get a copy for all your dog-loving friends - your dog walker, your vet, your dog park buddies, etc. When you purchase through their Web site and designate NVSR, we'll get $4.00 for each book sold. What a deal!

Watch for the December Sheltie Spin |
 Our December "hard copy" Sheltie Spin will feature senior Shelties, so watch for it in your mail. November is "Adopt-a-Senior" month among all rescues and shelters. We may be a month late, but it's never too late to adopt a senior dog. We have several among our fosters, and they would be so grateful for someone - like you? - to offer them a loving place to live out the rest of their lives.
 We hear so often, "I just couldn't adopt an older dog; I wouldn't want to lose her so soon." That's about us - but, what about the dog? Seniors need a nice place to live, they give so much and ask so little. Please think about it! Or, perhaps you can donate a little extra to help our seniors and hospice dogs. |
