On July 31 in Chicago, as part of our annual Women's Bar Leadership Summit, member organizations of the National Conference of Women's Bar Associations will be honored for their work in service of the public or on behalf of their own membership. The awards are a way of thanking volunteers for a job well done and inspiring other organizations to create similar programs. Deadline for submission of the nominations is Friday, January 30. Past and present leaders of the New Hampshire Women's Bar Association gathered in Boston on August 8th as they were honored with the 2014 Public Service Award for Overcoming Cancer's Legal Challenges.

NCWBA Seeks Members to Serve on Judicial Endorsements/Nominations and
Membership Committees
| We are currently seeking nominations from our member organizations of individuals interested in serving on our Judicial Endorsements/Nominations and Membership Committees. This is a wonderful opportunity to promote a member from your organization to actively participate on an NCWBA committee. If appointed to the Membership Committee, your candidate will have a voice in identifying what our member organizations want and need from the NCWBA, while Judicial Endorsements/Nominations Committee members will provide insight on judicial nominations and will be involved in the further promotion of women on the bench. If you or someone from your organization is interested in joining one of these committees, please contact our Board/Officer Nominating Committee Chair, Katherine Brown, at (603)970-7592, for more information. The nomination deadline has been extended until December 15, 2014.

Save the Date--February 6
Houston
| |
Have you wondered how to "shatter the echo chamber" and get men involved in changing law practice in ways that will enable everyone to utilize their skills and talents to the fullest without being held back by old stereotypes? On Friday afternoon, February 6, from 2:30 to 4:30 as part of the ABA midyear meeting in Houston, we will be tackling that issue with a program entitled Men Joining Women for Change: Harnassing the Power of Inclusivity. The program will feature Ida Abbott, author of Sponsoring Women: What Men Need to Know. Click here to hear a podcast interview with Ida Abbott on engaging men to advance women. Ida Abbott will moderate a panel which will include Mark Coffin, managing partner of Seyfarth Shaw's Houston office, Amy Chronis, partner, Deloitte & Touche, and Michele Coleman Mayes, Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the New York Public Library and Chair of the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession.

NCWBA Listserves
|
The NCWBA maintains three separate listserves. Presidents and Presidents-Elect of our member associations are eligible for our Presidents Circle listserve. Executive Directors and those who take on primary administrative tasks for member organizations which do not have paid staff are eligible for our Executive Directors listserve. Anyone involved with women's bar associations as a leader or member may opt to join our NCWBA@yahoogroups.com list. This is an interactive list which is a great resource for referral requests, job announcements and other matters of interest to women's bar associations. To join this list, send us an e-mail with your name and the e-mail which you wish to use, describing your involvement in a women's bar association. Let us know if you know of people who wish to be added to any of our lists.
