Dear MWA Member,

As the year winds down, we want to thank you for supporting Muslim Women's Alliance.  It is truly because of the grace of God and your active engagement, that MWA has accomplished a tremendous amount.  Your generosity, prayers and participation is very much appreciated!

Throughout the year, the organization depends on contributions from individuals like you to carry out the non profit-501(c)3's goals. We encourage you to end the year on a "giving" note.  Kindly consider contributing a financial gift today to help people in need and to empower women and families through civic engagement and community leadership.  Last year with contributions from our generous corporate sponsors and private donors MWA accomplished so much for the common good:

In 2012, MWA planned and executed the following programs to meet their mission of promoting philanthropy, community service, personal development and building a mutual understanding between people of diverse backgrounds:

  • At the Children with Special Needs event, parents made connections and were introduced to  community resources

  • The sold out MWA Celebration of the Muslim Woman highlighted dynamic role models and engaged an audience of 500
  • MWA sponsored the 16th Annual National Child Abuse Prevention Month Kickoff in collaboration with 4th Presbyterian Church
  • Executed a successful Ramadan Rush for Rewards campaign contributing 1,900 hours of hands-on service and monetary donations to help the needy from diverse faiths
  • A successful pre-Ramadan drive was conducted to provide necessities including $10,000 of meat vouchers for 300 families
  • Through the In-Kind Drive, MWA members donated over $1,000 of household products for patrons of the Hamdard Center, a social and health services agency

  •  At the backpack drive our members made 52 backpacks for UMMA Center to distribute to families in need

  • Families came together to make 180 brown bag lunches for Inspiration Cafe and Dupage Pads supporting individuals that suffer from homelessness and poverty

  • In the early hours of the morning, fasting members gathered to feed over 600 homeless at 5 different shelter locations

  • MWA hosted an iftar at Masjid al-Taqwah and enjoyed breaking fast with the community
  • During the co-sponsored Iftaar at a Synagogue held at three locations, the Jewish and Muslim communities gathered to pray, listen to speakers from both faiths and break fast together

  • Our members rolled up their sleeves to spruce up 2 masjid locations, turning an empty space into a Musallah at the Northwest Suburban College and renovating Masjid Dawah

  •  The Marriage in Islam seminar featured Sr. Amina Sayeed who shared her insights
  •  MWA joined Amnesty International USA and other partners for the Shadow Summit that brought Afghan women's voices to the forefront

  • At the Walk for the Children of Syria, MWA united with thousands at a nationwide event to raise awareness about the humanitarian catastrophe in Syria and raise funds for the children
  • For the winter season, MWA collected new/gently used coats and outerwear to help refugees and members of city masjids

The above list of activities demonstrates that your financial support has made a definite positive impact.   Your monetary assistance is pivotal in sustaining an effective non-profit organization that enables Muslim women together with others from diverse backgrounds to contribute to the betterment of our society.

If you are someone that is still contemplating a year-end, tax-deductible contribution, we want to encourage you to give now to MWA.  Take advantage of this opportunity to make an impact...make today count.  May you be rewarded for your good deeds.

On behalf of the MWA Board of Directors, I sincerely thank you for your overwhelming support this year.  We look forward to your continued involvement in 2013.

With respect and gratitude,

Anisha
