Download City of Burleson Texas, the City's official mobile app
Are you looking for a fast and convenient way to get information about your City of Burleson government? The official City of Burleson Texas mobile app went live in the Apple Store and Google Play store on April 11.

Type "Burleson" in the search bar and look for the City of Burleson Texas seal. The look of the mobile app is the same as the City of Burleson website, which underwent a redesign in July 2015. All of the app's icons link to pages or modules on the City website. When you download the new mobile app to your mobile device, the app icon is the City seal.

The goal of the mobile app is to make it easy for residents - as well as those who work in Burleson or are visiting Burleson - to check the calendar, report a problem (trash/debris, high grass, etc.), see what events/festivals are coming up, fill out online forms, and contact staff and council members. These 20 icons are the pages/modules that visitors to the City of Burleson website go to the most, based on our website analytics.  Read the rest of the details.
Deadline is April 23 to sign future sixth graders up for Paw Pals

Students are required to write an essay explaining why they want to participate and what they hope to get out of the academy. Fill out the application before April 23. Applications are also available at the Burleson Animal Shelter, 775 S.E. John Jones Dr. The shelter hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesday-Friday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays. April water statements reflect winter quarter averaging
Before you open that envelope or email with your City of Burleson water/trash bill, remember, your April water statement will reflect your new winter quarter average.

What is winter quarter averaging? The City of Burleson takes the consumption billed in January, February and March, averages it together, and that's what you are billed for sewer all year long. Depending on where you live, this could be the consumption for December, January and February or the second half of December, all of January and February, and the first half of March. Your April statement will reflect your new sewer average.

If you have questions about winter quarter averaging, call Utility Customer Service at 817-426-9601.
We want your household hazardous waste, electronics & paper
Start clearing your clutter now for the City's free semiannual Household Hazardous Waste, Electronic Recycling, & Paper Shredding event slated for Saturday, May 14. The collection is 9 a.m.-11 a.m., at a new location - the Municipal Service Center, 725 S.E. John Jones Dr. (next to the Burleson Animal Shelter).

Staff will unload the household hazardous waste items from your vehicle in to the City of Fort Worth's Crud Cruiser. Unicor is recycling your electronics, and Expanco will accept your paper for shredding. All electronics and appliances, including TVs, will be taken for free. There is no fee for paper shredding, but the volume is limited to three document-sized boxes per vehicle. Read more about this event.
You can be a $100 bank draft winner too
Molly Rhodes is happy after she was awarded a $100 credit to her City of Burleson utility account (water/trash/curbside recycling). Names are drawn each month. The drawing is an incentive for utilizing the bank draft feature to pay your City of Burleson utility account. All customers who choose (or currently use) this option are entered into the monthly drawing.

Sign up now so you have a chance to be one of the prize winners this fiscal year. Simply fill out an application online, or stop by the Utility Customer Service office located at Burleson City Hall, 141 W. Renfro St., 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Residents may drop off unused, expired, or unwanted medications, in both pill and liquid form, for safe disposal at Burleson's Prescription Drug Take-Back event on Saturday, April 30, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Burleson partners with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to collect over-the-counter as well as prescription drugs. Since that time, Burleson's events have collected more than 1 ton of prescription drugs.

If you do not live in Burleson but still want to participate in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back event, the DEA is continually updating the list of sites. Among those participating are Burleson, Crowley, Joshua, Mansfield, Fort Worth and Arlington.

The April 30 event is at a new location, the Burleson Police Department, 1161 S.W. Wilshire Blvd. (Wilshire Boulevard and Elk Drive). Read more about the event!

Do you promote tourism in the city of Burleson ?
Have you turned in your letter of inquiry? The City of Burleson is calling for proposals for tourism-related projects that are specifically designed to attract overnight visitors to the area.  The City will provide grants from the Hotel/Motel Occupancy Tax revenue generated within the Burleson city limits. The deadline for the letter of inquiry is Monday, April 18. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Monday, May 2.

The Hotel/Motel fund has annual revenues of approximately $130,000. Staff expects the total awarded amount to all organizations will be less than 75 percent of this figure for Fiscal Year 2017 (Oct. 1, 2016 -Sept. 30, 2017).

Last year the City granted money to support The Burleson Heritage Foundation for historical preservation of the rail cars, advertising of Old Town Burleson, the Burleson Wine Crawl event, the SalsaRita Festival & 5K, The Honey Tour Bike Ride, Twin Fiddle Productions events, and the Burleson Tourism Alliance.
