Volunteer to beautify Burleson at April 30 Trash Bash
Find your boots, round up your friends, and sign up for the City's semiannual Burleson Trash Bash slated for Saturday, April 30. It is a commitment of two hours, 9 a.m.-11 a.m.
Volunteers of all ages meet at Warren Park, 301 S.W. Johnson Ave. (across the street from the library) at 9 a.m. to get their trash bags and litter picker uppers. Then they head out to remove litter and debris from retail corridors, waterways, drainage channels, streets, parks, and other public areas. Youth participants are enthusiastically welcomed, but must have adult supervision.
At previous Trash Bash events, volunteers gathered at Warren Park after the event for free pizza and drawings. This year, the wrap-up also includes music from the Bransom Elementary School choir and a visit from a unique sculptor. Find out how you can sign up!

We have an app to remind you about your trash collection
Life can get crazy and the last thing you want to miss is your trash collection. If you want a friendly reminder when to put your trash, curbside recycling and special collection items at the curb, we have an app for that!
Go to the app store on your mobile device and search "Burleson Waste & Recycling." Download it, type in your home address, and you are ready to go! The app will create the schedule for your collection dates, and what will be collected (garbage, garbage and recycling, special pickup/bulk collection week). You can sign up for alerts for unscheduled interruptions to your regular collection service. You set the day and time of day that you want your alerts. The Burleson Waste and Recycling app will also remind you of the City holidays. If you don't want a mobile app, you can find the same information on the ReCollect page on this website.
Waste Wizard will answer your questions. If you type in "carpet," Waste Wizard will tell you that carpet and underpadding is accepted for special trash pickup/bulk collection and that it has to be cut into 4-foot rolls. Type in "Freon" and Waste Wizard will tell you there is no curbside collection for hazardous waste, but that you can take advantage of the City's household hazardous waste collection events, or use the Environmental Collection Center in Fort Worth. You can even report a problem on the app. Read more about the Burleson Waste & Recycling app.

Owe library fines? Paws Your Fines has a solution
Donated items will help Ani-Meals program, pet rescues, and pet parents down on their luck
The Burleson Public Library is waiving your fines again! Customers who owe library fines can get as much as $50 forgiven between now and Saturday, April 16, through the library's Paws Your Fines program. The catch is that instead of digging into their pockets, customers can bring in donations that the library will turn over to the Burleson Animal Shelter. Customers can bring leashes, beds, unopened and unexpired pet food or treats, and other related items to receive a waiver of $1-$20 per item. The library has created a donation chart to guide library cardholders in clearing up their existing fines. For example, each can of pet food brought in will result in a waiver of up to $1 in library fines, while large bags (30 pounds+) of dry food are worth $25 of library fines. A maximum of $50 can be waived. The Burleson Animal Shelter partners with Meals-On-Wheels for the Ani-Meals program. That program helps home bound elderly clients who share their own meals with their pets because they can't afford to buy pet food. The shelter coordinates and stores the food donated to Ani-Meals. The shelter also gives supplies to pet rescues that work with them to get pets adopted. And, the Burleson Animal Shelter staff helps those who are struggling to make ends meet but don't want to give up their four-legged family members. Items donated to the library's Paws Your Fines drive will help all three causes.
Everyone is welcome to bring in donations even if they do not have fines on their library account. The library's hours are Monday-Wednesday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Thursday-Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Read more about Paws Your Fines.
