Does your group promote tourism in the city of Burleson?
The City of Burleson is calling for proposals for tourism-related projects that are specifically designed to attract overnight visitors to the area.  The City will provide grants from the Hotel/Motel Occupancy Tax revenue generated within the Burleson city limits.

Last year the City granted money to support The Burleson Heritage Foundation for historical preservation of the rail cars, advertising of Old Town Burleson, the Burleson Wine Crawl event, the SalsaRita Festival & 5K, The Honey Tour Bike Ride, Twin Fiddle Productions events, and the Burleson Tourism Alliance.

If your organization is interested, submit an official Letter of Inquiry for City staff to review.  The deadline to submit a Letter of Inquiry is 5 p.m. on Monday, April 18. Beginning this year, applications will be accepted electronically.  The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Monday, May 2. Read more about Hotel/Motel funds.
Purple Heart recipients shared their experiences in Vietnam
Two men who earned Purple Hearts during their tours in Vietnam were the guest speakers at the March 26 Vietnam Veteran Celebration at Veterans Memorial Plaza.

E-8 Master Sgt. Ron Fry and E-9 Sgt. Maj. Bill Hall shared their Vietnam experiences with a crowd of more than 150. The ceremony included posting of the colors by the Burleson High School ROTC, the posting of the MIA flag, Amazing Grace by Burleson Deputy Fire Chief/Bagpiper Brent Batla, a salute by the Burleson Police Department's honor guard, and taps by Burleson Police Officer Louis Giddings.

Mayor Ken Shetter welcomed the attendees and Dale Dexheimer was the master of ceremonies. Thank you to all who took time on this gorgeous spring day to celebrate our Vietnam veterans! To see the rest of the pictures go to the Vietnam Veteran Celebration photo album on theĀ City of Burleson Texas Facebook page.

Burleson Teen Court has an app for that!
The Burleson Teen Court mobile app provides teens with easy access to information about upcoming events, dates for Teen Court, awareness nights, the quarterly newsletter, and an opportunity for community service with Burleson Teen Court. The app also contains built-in forms such as community service time sheets, locations for community service and a Teen Court volunteer application.

All you have to do is search "Team App" in the App Store on your mobile device, download it, then search for Burleson Teen Court. You will be asked to sign up.

Teen Court is an alternative trial and/or sentencing option in the criminal justice system for juvenile and minor Class C Misdemeanor offenses. Offenders' cases are presented to a jury of their peers made up of teen volunteers and/or previous offenders. Jury members listen to the teen's side of the story, ask pertinent questions, and then deliberate on the case. The jury assigns a community service sentence and jury service sentence according to the standardized sentencing discipline grid. Read more about Burleson Teen Court.
