We are paying forward your support and generosity
Between the tip donations and a portion of the nightly proceeds from Grumps Burgers, the Burleson Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (BCPAAA) brought in $4,600 at the Sept. 21 Tip A Cop fundraiser.

The BCPAAA, a 501©3 non-profit organization, is using the funds raised to not only maintain the police department's bicycle unit and honor guard, but also to kick start a new program, Operation Helping Hands, which supplies officers with gift cards to hand out at their discretion.

"The officers can use the cards, as needed, when they come upon someone who the officer believes is truly in need," Sgt. B. O'Heren, coordinator of the department's Citizens Police Academy and Citizens On Patrol program, said. "These officers often spend their own money buying someone gas or food or finding a place for them to stay to get them away from a bad situation." Read more about Operation Helping Hands
Yes, there is a Christmas parade in Burleson, Dec. 5!
The Burleson Rotary Club is hosting the Parade of Lights that steps off from Kerr Middle School at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5. Twinkling lights are a must on each parade entry.

The parade will start on the Irene Street side of the school parking lot, turn right on Gregory Street, right on Johnson Avenue, and right on Ellison Street. The Christmas parade will then turn right at the intersection of Ellison and Warren Street (next to NORTHSTAR Bank and Burleson City Hall) and head back to the middle school parking lot. The parade will not go past city hall.

Santa will be on that last Parade of Lights float. His final stop for the day is the corner of Johnson Avenue and Ellison Street, which will be bustling with dancers and singers entertaining the parade crowd. For more information about the parade, call Lisa Keese at 817-447-7300. The parade application is available on the Burleson Rotary Club website.
Bailey Lake is going to be filled with trout . . . next week
Bailey Lake is going to be filled with trout Dec. 9. Please note the rules for trout fishing . . . you are limited to two fishing poles per person. That means one person can't be fishing with five poles. Speaking of five, the limit is five trout per day (yes, per every 24 hours). If you catch one, two, three, four or five trout in 24 hours, you can keep it/them. But if you catch anything that is not a trout, you have to release it.

And, as a reminder, a fishing license is required for anglers 17 years of age and older who wish to fish at Bailey Lake. Bailey Lake is located at 280 W. Hidden Creek Pkwy. in Burleson (corner of Hidden Creek and Gardens Boulevard). All state guidelines and requirements are applicable. To learn more about fishing licenses, please go to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Division page.
