Military veterans were celebrated at City's annual tribute
"Those who say we are in a time where there are no heroes. They just don't know where to look." - Ronald Reagan

Those words from the "Soldier's Pledge" by the 40th president of the United States opened the City's annual Military Veteran Tribute in Veterans Memorial Plaza on Nov. 7. From the firing team to "Taps, the National Anthem, presentation of the wreath, bagpipes, and the presentation of colors the focus was on the service and sacrifice of military veterans. Command Sgt. Major Retired Bill May, who retired after 30 years in the United States Army, was the featured speaker. Even in retirement, he is giving back as he serves as a regional coordinator with the education and employment initiative (E2I), and helps recovering service members find employment.

To all who served, and to all who are serving, thank you. And for those families and friends who support and honor our military, thank you. To see the rest of the pictures, go to the Military Veteran Tribute album on the City of Burleson Texas Facebook page.

And, the Fort Worth Crud Cruiser took in 8,000 pounds of paint; 4,913 pounds of solvents, aerosol cans, loose flammables, oil/transmission fluid, oil filters, antifreeze, automobile batteries, herb/pesticides/fertilizer, cleaners, corrosives, cooking oil, light bulbs and household batteries; and, whew, 3,600 pounds of recycle waste.

The City's environmental services division and public works staff worked the event nonstop alongside the Fort Worth Crud Cruiser, Expanco (paper shredding) and Unicor (electronics). Thank you for choosing to recycle! More pictures!
