The field is narrowing. The City of Burleson received 69 applications for fire chief. Those were narrowed down to 11 who were interviewed by a panel of six. On Oct. 8, the names of the top three were released.

The final decision will be made by the city manager within the next few weeks. After more than 17 years as Burleson's first full-time paid fire chief, Gary Wisdom announced in August that he was retiring. He will work through the end of this year. Wisdom served on the selection committee.

Community spirit was evident at National Night Out 2015
|
|
There were parties all over Burleson on Saturday, Oct. 10, as the Burleson Police Department celebrated National Night Out 2015! Twenty-nine neighborhoods signed up, and we visited all 29. That "we" included the police department, bicycle patrol officers, Citizens on Patrol, fire department, fire marshal, animal services, code compliance, environmental services, city marshals, library, Mayor Ken Shetter and Councilmember DanO Strong.
There was plenty of food, some musical entertainment, games, and lots of camaraderie. And that's exactly what National Night Out is all about. The event, which started in 1984, is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support and participation in anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and to let criminals know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate. For the rest of the pictures, go to the National Night Out album on the City of Burleson Facebook page.
