Buckle up before you get ejected
You weren't wearing your seat belt. So what? You're a safe driver. You'll be ok...right? Wrong! It's time to face the facts: In 2013, there were 9,580 unbuckled passenger vehicle occupants killed in crashes in the United States. Why did you just get that ticket? Because the time to buckle up is before you've been ejected from your vehicle. In real life you don't get a second chance. That's why cops give tickets. Watch video. The Burleson Police Department is reminding motorists to Click It or Ticket. As part of the national seat belt enforcement campaign, law enforcement agencies around the country will be stepping up enforcement May 18-May 31, just ahead of one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. Be part of the solution!
You've seen it - construction and demolition debris, appliances, abandoned vehicles, automobile parts, tires, furniture, and household hazardous waste - dumped on an empty lot, in a field or an alley, in a yard, or at the end of a dead-end street. That's illegal dumping. You can clean up the problem by calling code enforcement at 817-426-9832; email code@burlesontx.com; or call the Burleson Police Department at 817-426-9903. To respond, code enforcement officers need the date, time and location of the incident; the vehicle license plate number and a detailed description of the vehicle involved; and, a detailed description of the person involved. Be part of the solution!

We have serious recyclers!
Recyclers are early risers! We had vehicles backed up past Renfro Street before 8:30 a.m. May 9. We took in your household hazardous waste, old electronics, and paper that needed shredding. Our stats show that we had 205 participants. Of that, 88 used paper shredding, 152 used household hazardous waste, and 64 recycled electronics. If you missed this event, the next Household Hazardous Waste, Electronic Recycling and Paper Shredding is on Saturday, Nov. 7.
