Name of the November Shop Wilshire winner will be drawn at council meeting

Are you collecting receipts from Hwy. 174 businesses located between the I-35W split and Elk Drive? The big winner in November was Wanda Farrar. She won a $250 travel voucher with First Travel of Burleson. The next winner's name will be drawn at the Dec. 9 city council meeting. The Texas Department of Transportation is making median improvements to Hwy. 174 between I-35W and Elk Drive. During the construction, the City encourages everyone to keep visiting your favorite Wilshire businesses in the improvement area as part of the City's Shop on Wilshire Loyalty program. Collect five separate receipts from businesses in the improvement area, then deliver or mail the receipts to Burleson City Hall. Make sure your name and your phone number are included with the receipts. Receipts for the Dec. 9 drawing must be dated Nov. 1-30. December's receipts mark the end of the City's Shop Wilshire program. The drawing for the December receipts will take place at the Tuesday, Jan. 21, Burleson City Council meeting.

Help reverse litter on Tuesdays

You've seen or heard the commercials . . . help reverse litter! Ten on Tuesday is a new tradition in North Texas. Ten on Tuesday encourages businesses, schools, community groups and individuals to reverse litter by picking up 10 pieces of trash and recyclable materials each Tuesday. If for just one year, 5,000 people chunk 10 pieces of litter a week into the trash or recycling bin, the Metroplex will reduce litter by 2.6 million pieces. Find out more on the Reverse Litter website.
