Eligible for a pressure reducing valve?City has a rebate for residents
Check your mail to see if your home qualifies for a rebate for the installation of a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV). This rebate program is for qualifying residents only. Tenant and commercial requests are not eligible. The home must have been built before 2000 in the Mountain Valley Pressure Plane or prior to 2007 in the Upper Pressure Plane, and, have a static water pressure of more than 80 psi. The City will not provide the PRV to customers, but the City will provide a rebate to qualifying customers who choose to have a PRV installed. When the associated plumbing permit is dated prior to Dec.1, 2013, a rebate of $400 is available with an approved PRV rebate application. Residents can use an address search to find out if their home qualifies. Maps of qualifying locations are on the City website. Only PRVs that reduce pressure in the house, not the irrigation system exclusively, to 80 psi are eligible for the rebate. Read More |

Water restrictions start Monday
Residents of Burleson will be under Stage 1 water restrictions starting Monday, June 3. This is the second time that the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) has implemented watering restrictions, based on storage capacity, since August 2011. Those restrictions ended May 4, 2012. The primary focus of Stage 1 water restrictions is to significantly reduce outdoor watering, which can account for as much as 50 percent or more of the daily residential water used during the summer. Since 2009 the City has banned watering with irrigation or sprinkler systems, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., year round. This includes residential and non-residential customers. In Burleson, Stage 1 water restrictions means landscape watering is now limited. Residential addresses that end in even numbers may water on Wednesday and Saturday. Residential addresses that end in odd numbers may water on Thursday and Sunday. And, non-residential addresses may water on Tuesday and Friday. There is no landscape watering on Monday. Read More |
Buckle up . . . it's the law
Drivers and passengers, by state law, are required to wear a seatbelt. The Texas Department of Transportation and law enforcement agencies across Texas are spreading that word during the 12th annual Click It or Ticket campaign. The campaign is May 20-June 2. Click It or Ticket is designed to raise safety awareness and prevent fatalities. Unbuckled adult passengers in the back seat can face fines and court costs of up to $200. Children younger than eight years old must be in a child safety seat or booster seat unless they are taller than 4 feet 9 inches. Fines can be as high as $250 plus court costs. If a child passenger younger than 8 years old is not buckled up or is buckled in wrong, the driver will be ticketed. To see why officers write a ticket for no seat belt, go to Officer Spradlin, Why I Ticket. |
You have tools to weather the storm
Since April 2008, the City has alerted residents to thunderstorm and tornado warnings via an emergency phone notification system. The emergency phone notifications automatically post to the City of Burleson, Texas Facebook page and to the City of Burleson Twitter page. The City also has outdoor warning system sirens (11 in Burleson's 26 square miles). City officials strongly encourage citizens to buy weather radios with S.A.M.E. technology (programming to receive local alerts). The notifications for weather are by phone and by email. If you are in the system, you will be alerted to tornado warnings, severe thunderstorm warnings, chemical emergencies, a state emergency declared by the governor, a national emergency declared by the president, or other emergencies as directed by the mayor, city management, or director of emergency management. The alerts are pre-recorded telephone messages made to the publicly-listed phone numbers of residents and businesses in the city. To learn how to be prepared in the event of severe weather, go to the City's Emergency Management page and click on the preparedness guide at the bottom of the page. To sign up for Blackboard Connect emergency phone notifications, go to the City's Warning Weather Alerts page. If you want to receive those same notifications through the City's Facebook or Twitter pages, become a fan of the City of Burleson Texas Government Facebook page and the City of Burleson Texas Twitter page. And, if you want to see where the City's 11 outdoor warning system sirens are located, go to Warning Sirens. |
