City will ground spray for mosquitoes when West Nile virus is confirmed
Following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the City of Burleson's plan for mosquito control in 2013 now includes ground spraying for mosquitoes in areas where a mosquito pool confirms West Nile virus or where a human case of West Nile virus is confirmed. The mosquito breeding season is May 1-September 30. The objective is to control mosquito larvae before they develop into biting adults. Once a month during this season, waterways, historically known breeding sites and complaint locations will be inspected and treated as necessary. Once treated, those sites will be inspected every 7-14 days. After a large rain event, all locations will be inspected and treated if necessary. Eliminate stagnant water around your home/business and report other areas of stagnant water to the City by calling 817-426-9832 or email

If you like it, lock it!
"If you like it, lock it." That's the Burleson Police Department's catchy slogan for getting you to start thinking about how not to be a victim. What's on your prevention checklist? Park in a high traveled area. Lock your vehicle. Take your valuables with you. And remove from plain sight the things you can't carry with you. Always assume a thief is watching you and outsmart them. A thief is always looking for an easy, quick mark, and that mark is an unlocked vehicle and plenty of valuables within easy reach to choose from. If you like it, lock, it. Read More |
