Preparing for your pets makes sense - get ready now, is the message from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). FEMA, in cooperation with the American Kennel Club, ASPCA, and The Humane Society of the United States, has created a brochure that is posted on the FEMA website. The brochure addresses how to prepare, plan and stay informed when it comes to taking care of your pets in the case of an emergency such as a fire, flood, tornado or terrorist attack. Assemble an animal emergency supply kit, develop a pet care buddy system, take your pet with you when you evacuate, and have a backup emergency plan. For the details, see the FEMA brochure. |
