Rain may postpone City's two outdoor Easter Egg Hunts slated for March 23
The National Weather Service is forecasting a 60 percent chance of rain on Saturday, March 23, so the City is regrouping as far as the Easter events slated for that day. The Aqua Egg Hunt will go on, 10 a.m.-noon, in the BRiCk's indoor pool. If it is raining, Family Field Day (scheduled for 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in Bartlett Park) will be rescheduled for Fall 2013; Bunny Daze (noon - 2 p.m.) will be cancelled and the Bunny Daze Easter Egg Hunt (1:30 p.m.) will be postponed; and the 3 p.m. Easter Egg Hunt at Russell Farm will be postponed. If there is a rain postponement, the Bunny Daze Easter Egg Hunt and Russell Farm Easter Egg Hunt will be rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, at the BRiCk. For more information about the potential postponement of the two egg hunts, please call the BRiCk at 817-426-9106. Read More |

The holder of the five lucky receipts in the Shop Wilshire drawing is . . .
Fran Burks. She won a flower arrangement and a $50 gift card from Flowers by Fran (248 S.W. Wilshire Blvd.) and a $50 gift card to Boulevard Salon and Spa (232 S.W. Wilshire Blvd.). The winner's name was drawn from 81 entries (each entry is five receipts) that totaled $8,532.70 in purchases from businesses in the Hwy. 174 median improvement project area. The March 18 prize drawing included receipts from February 2013. The February receipts are approximately double the amount of receipts turned in to the City for January. It's easy to get involved. For the April prize drawing, just turn in five receipts (from the month of March) from businesses on State Hwy. 174 (Wilshire Boulevard), between I-35W and Elk Drive. The next drawing will take place at the April 15 Burleson City Council meeting, so don't forget to collect your March receipts from the project area. To find out more about the program, go to the Shop on Wilshire Loyalty Program page on the City website.

Calling for Burleson High School yearbooks from the 1940s and 1950s
Are you a Burleson High School graduate whose years in high school include the 1940s and/or 1950s? Then the Burleson Public Library needs your help! If you have a yearbook that the library could borrow for three-four weeks, the library will get the books digitized and add them to the library's collection. The goal is to have a digitized copy of all BHS yearbooks at the library, at the Burleson Independent School District, and with the Burleson Heritage Foundation at the Burleson Visitors Center. Call Library Director Rod Bland at 817-426-9201 or email him. |

City's recycle center is open Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Residents may take leaves, brush, yard waste and limbs to the Recycle/Mulch/Compost Center, 620 Memorial Plaza (behind Fire Station # 2) or set them out for once a month collection by the City (see the zone map for your collection week). Yard waste and leaves must be bagged in approved paper lawn bags available at local retailers and left at the center, bag and all. Storm debris and heavy trimming associated with the spring may result in collection delays of up to 30 days.
