Speed limit will change on John Jones
Watch out for changing speed limit signs on John Jones Drive (FM 731). The speed limit will change to 45 miles per hour from Southwest Hillside Drive to the southern city limits. The current speed is 50 miles per hour between Hillside and Hwy. 174 and 55 miles per hour between Hwy. 174 and the southern city limit. The City's engineering department and police department requested that the Texas Department of Transportation do a speed study to determine if a lower speed might be warranted in the commercial and high traffic areas near the intersection with Hwy. 174. Following two public hearings in February, city council approved Ordinance B-802-13 to establish the 45 mile per hour zone. |
