Learn about the City's engineering department via City library display

What do you think a municipal engineering department's responsibilities entail? The City of Burleson's Engineering Services department coordinates and monitors the Engineering department development, design, and construction of all subdivisions as the work relates to engineering activities. Floodplain management and drainage activities are coordinated through engineering. The responsibilities also include traffic issues and the design and construction of the City's capital improvement projects. The City department is divided into three divisions: capital improvements, engineering, and gas well development. You can find out more about how the City's Engineering Services department affects your quality of life starting today, when City staff creates an educational display in the case in the front foyer of the Burleson Public Library, 248 S.W. Johnson Ave. The display will be available for viewing 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday; and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday.

Library's Wi-Fi is five times faster now

Court allows 20 business days to pay citations; hours extended in February

If you have received a citation from the Burleson Municipal Court, what is the deadline to pay it? You have 20 business days from the date of the offense. You may retain an attorney but an attorney is not required since municipal citations are a fine-only offense. Payment may be made by cash, cashier's check, money orders, MasterCard or Visa. Leaky toilet and irrigation system could be adding dollars to your water bill
Is your City water bill unusually high? Make sure you don't have any faucets that are dripping, inside or outside your home. The City also recommends that you do a dye test on your toilets. Put some food coloring in the tank of the toilet, but don't flush it. Return in about 30 minutes and if any of the colored water from the tank is in the bowl of the toilet, your toilet is leaking. This is a major water waster because many times people don't realize the toilet is leaking because the water isn't going on the floor. Also, if you have an irrigation system, check the settings. Customers have said that they have had more than one program on at the same time and didn't realize it until they checked their programs. If you still have a question regarding your bill, please call the Utility Customer Service office at 817-426-9601.
Basket of pups, ENews
If you can't say no to more pets, you can request a City multi-pet permit

If you live inside the Burleson city limits, you may have no more than four domestic animals in any combination, and no more than one litter of puppies or kittens at any given time. But, if you can't resist adding more pets to the household, residents who want to keep more than the four pets may apply with the Burleson Animal Shelter for a multi-pet permit. There is a fee associated with the permit. Contact the Burleson Animal Shelter, 817-426-9283.

Yard waste can go at the curb or take it to Recycle/Mulch/Compost Center

Residents may take their leaves, brush, yard waste and limbs to the Recycle/Mulch/Compost Center, 620 Memorial Plaza (behind Fire Station # 2) or set them out for once a month collection by the City (see the zone map for your collection week). Yard waste and leaves must be bagged in approved paper lawn bags available at local retailers and left at the center, bag and all. If the yard waste or leaves are in plastic bags, you are responsible for dumping the contents at the center and taking the plastic bags with you. Limbs cut to 6-foot lengths or shorter are collected on a monthly basis. Brush collection truck crews survey the city by zones and collect limbs as they are found. Smaller limb piles may be collected by the solid waste crews when they complete their regular routes, however larger piles must be collected by the brush truck operator. Storm debris and heavy trimming associated with the spring may result in collection delays of up to 30 days. The Recycle/Mulch/Compost center is open Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
