The bats will be cracking Saturday, Dec. 8 in a benefit softball tournament for Heart for the Kids. Burleson fire fighters and Burleson police officers will face off at noon at Hidden Creek Sports Complex, 295 E. Hidden Creek Pkwy. Admission is one unwrapped toy. Five receipts a month from Wilshire businesses could reap rewards for you
Start collecting those receipts! In January 2013, the Texas Department of Transportation will be making median improvements to State Highway 174 (Wilshire Boulevard), between I-35W and Elk Drive. During the construction process, the City of Burleson is encouraging everyone to keep visiting your favorite Wilshire businesses in the improvement area as part of the City's "Shop on Wilshire" Loyalty program. Starting in January, collect five separate receipts from businesses in the improvement area; deliver or mail them to city hall prior to the third Monday of the month of the following month. Those receipts will be placed in a drawing that will be conducted at the second Burleson City Council meeting each month. Prizes will include items from local Wilshire businesses. Read More |

Wide eyes and 'ahhhs' abounded at City's annual Breakfast with Santa
Santa Claus, pancakes and sausage, and crafts were a huge draw Dec. 1 at the City's 13th annual Breakfast with Santa. The BRiCk, the new location for Santa's breakfast, was packed 7 a.m.-11 a.m. with children and their families. The larger location allowed for more elaborate sets for Santa Claus to listen to the Christmas wishes of the children. The event was hosted by the City's parks and recreation department. Breakfast with Santa is always the first Saturday in December. To see the more than 70 City pictures, go to the Breakfast with Santa 2012 photo album on the City of Burleson Facebook page. |

Spectacular fireworks show and Santa Claus reigned at City's tree lighting
It was a beautiful night Dec. 1 for the Burleson Rotary Club's Parade of Lights and the City's tree lighting and low aerial fireworks show. Santa Claus rode in the parade, then made a stop at the corner of Johnson Avenue and Ellison Street for the countdown to the lighting of the City Christmas tree. That was followed by the fireworks show, choreographed to Christmas music, then more sharing of wishes with Santa in his sleigh. To see the more than two dozen pictures, go to the Christmas Parade, Tree Lighting and Fireworks 2012 album on the City Facebook page. |
