Winds couldn't keep veterans away from City's annual Military Veteran Tribute
The winds were strong Nov. 10, but that didn't deter the toughest of veterans and their families from particpating in the City of Burleson's sixth annual Military Veteran Tribute at Veterans Memorial Park. John Hince, the 6th District Commander of the American Legion for Texas, was the guest speaker. The focus this year was on Purple Heart recipients and those warriors who were wounded in combat. A monument was dedicated to Purple Heart recipients. For more pictures go to the Military Veteran Tribute album on the City of Burleson, Texas Government Facebook page. |
You are your best deterrent to crime
Don't let the Grinch swoop in and ruin your holidays. Be your own best deterrent to crime. Burleson Police advise everyone to stay alert, pay attention to your surroundings, and pay attention to who is around you. If you are uncomfortable with how close people are to you, create more space between you and them. Police officers will be out during the Thanksgiving holiday patrolling retail parking lots as shoppers head to the stores for Black Friday specials Nov. 23. This year, some local retailers are offering specials on Thanksgiving night as well. Read More |

Keep sidewalks clear
Are you a jogger, walker, or dog walker? Do you use sidewalks to get around town? Being able to accomplish your fitness goals and stay out of harm's way can be hard to do if you don't have a clear path. Blocking a sidewalk is a violation of the City of Burleson's code of ordinances. More |
How do you dispose of bulk trash?
We field a lot of calls about what residents can do with bulk trash. Special pick-up items are collected monthly according to the zone schedule. There are four zones in Burleson - Zone 1 is the week of the first Monday of every month; Zone 2 is the week of the second Monday; Zone 3 is the week of the third Monday; and Zone 4 is the week of the fourth Monday. If you don't know what zone you are in, call the Municipal Service Center at 817-426-9830 and give them your address. Place the items at the curb the weekend before your scheduled week, separating compost items from landfill items. Crews will collect items Monday through Friday of your zone week. To find out what qualifies for a special pickup and what doesn't qualify, go to the Special Trash Pick-up page on the City website. |
