Plant a tree for a veteran Nov. 3 and go home with one of 300 tree seedlings

If you bring your family and friends to Centennial Park on Nov. 3 to honor a veteran at the dedication of the City's Military Veterans Grove, you may leave with a free tree seedling. The Texas Forest Service has donated 300 seedlings - bur oak, live oak and shumard oak - to be given out at the dedication. The Military Veteran Grove 2012 ceremony is 9 a.m. on Nov. 3 at the park at 1100 Scarlet Sage Pkwy. The trees will honor the men and women who serve or who have served in the armed forces. Residents are asked to bring friends, neighbors and shovels to plant 100 native trees. Volunteers don't have to dig the hole for the tree but they will be given instructions on how to plant each tree. Water line protection programs are not endorsed by the City of Burleson

We alerted you about this in April, but several companies are mailing letters to residents concerning a water line protection program again, so we wanted to post this reminder. Those programs are not endorsed by the City of Burleson and citizens are not required to take any action. The City will repair sewer service lines that are broken or damaged if it is in the City's right-of-way.  But it is the responsibility of the owner to clean (including roots and other obstructions) utility service lines all the way to the City's main line.  The City bears no responsibility for the cleaning of private service lines. The City is responsible for water lines up to the water meter, but anything downstream of the meter, toward the home, is the responsibility of the homeowner or lease holder. If you have any questions about water line protection programs, please call Public Works at 817-426-9830. Read More
