Thank you for all you do
to protect the Parkway!
Thanks to you, it's been an exciting and productive year on the Parkway. Your donations have provided training for rangers, improved trails, completed wildlife surveys, engaged youth in conservation efforts, preserved historical structures, and more. The Blue Ridge Music Center experienced a banner year with more than 40 performers taking the stage. The Kids in Parks program saw more than 2,000 kids sign up and take steps toward a healthier future. For your role in all these milestones and endeavors, we say thank you! To learn more about this year of accomplishments on the Parkway and beyond, read our annual report online. If you would like to receive our annual report and updates throughout the year, simply sign up for our mailings.

| Workers replace the shake roof of Polly Woods Ordinary in Virginia
|
Centennial Challenge update: Polly Woods Ordinary
Polly Woods Ordinary, one of the few remaining features of the 18th century settlement in the Peaks of Otter area, was an early tavern and lodge for tourists. The historical structure has deteriorated significantly in recent years, jeopardizing its use as site for history programs. The log structure is now clad in a new roof, and the weathered and damaged clapboard siding has been replaced. The repairs are continuing and will include replacing floorboards and joists. Thanks to your help, the Ordinary will remain a destination that provides rich educational opportunities for future generations.
We still need your help to complete this project! You can feel twice as good about your donation. Every dollar given will be matched thanks to a special allocation from Congress in anticipation of the National Park Service's centennial anniversary in 2016. Click here to make a difference at Polly Woods Ordinary. You can also double your gift at Abbott Lake, Mount Pisgah, Price Lake, and Johnson Farm.

Kids in Parks (in the city)
New TRACK Trail opens in historic downtown
Our signature Kids in Parks program is taking children and families back in time with its newest TRACK Trail. The Main Street adventure
brochure highlights many of the historical sites in the heart of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, including the mint where some of the nation's first gold coins were produced. It also takes trekkers along the Overmountain Victory Trail. The new trail will serve as a model for future TRACK Trails that get kids outside and engaged with their communities. To learn more about the adventure, click here. If you know of a town that would like a TRACK Trail, please contact Program Director Jason Urroz at jurroz@brpfoundation.org.
KIP also installed a new TRACK Trail in Little River, South Carolina, the second trail in the state. On the hike, families can explore Vereen Memorial Gardens, which winds through coastal woodlands and wetlands as it makes its way to the intercoastal waterway. The trail is a half mile from the North Carolina border, making it easily accessible from Wilmington. To learn more about the trail, click here.
